Telling them about me, then learning about what it is I’ll be repairing

Certified - Briggs and Stratton Master Technician, Koehler Master technician, Honda Engines Master technician, Husqvarna Silver (gold is only available to husqvarna employees) level tech and sales, and Kawasaki certified technician.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Learn from the “pro”. Mowers and most small engines will run forever with proper maintenance. Work out a initial price or “diagnostic fee” in advance. 50% of the time diagnosis can be made after speaking with customer. I’ve heard many stories of easy repairs quoted for cheap then be billed for way more.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Explaining the circumstances surrounding the small engine to not work.(was it working, past services done, etc).
