I have a passion to create the best possible design for any project where I am trusted such opportunity. If it is a project designed by others, I am more tham happy to offer suggestions if needed and if asked. I love working with people and creating new friends. I have many and I am not perfect but, I do my very best to stay in contact with every one of them.
I/we are so thankful to have the talents given us, the clients given us and the unique rewards of seeing our finished projects from the most recent to those done long ago.
Above all, the feeling I/we get with our 100% client satisfaction and the letters we receive from them some of which are decades old.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For a Design-Build:
I meet them at the site or thier home. I take the care and time to listen to their desires and goals. I give them some general feelof the where I think the design may go and if possible, I can give them general cost projectsions. I offer them our draftsamn at discounted costs and explain what they are and what it covers. I explain to them that once I have those drawings in hand, I can begin the accuratised design concepts. I ask them to send me whatever pictures or brochures of products or theme they are looking for and if they have ideas of what they want I ask for those as well. In a case wher ethey wish to do some of the work, I ask them to send a detailed list of the tasks they intend or wish to take on.
For remodels, additions and companion units;
If they decide to proceed, I schedule a draftsman out to their home or site to measure the existing home and site.
For new Construction, I schedule a surveyor out (if theydo not have one) to survey the site, provide a site plan and a topgraphical survey as it is alwasy required for submittal.
Once I have the drawings needed, I proceed with the design and all concepts necessary to satisfy the client. During this process, I do my best to give them reasonable cost estmated based on generall factors.
Once we have arrived at a final design, I send the design to our draftsman and follow-up with the other necessary experts for other required plans for submittal. shortly after final design, I/we are able to complete a detailed costing for the project. The contract method can be fixed or Time & Materials but most clients seem to want a fixed price contract.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the construction industry now for over 45 years. I have been designing and building remodels, additons, companion units and multi-family projects since 1978. Myhead supervisor Rick Adams had been with me/us for over 40 years.
At the age of 17, I became one of the few Roof Cutters in San Diego and was known as the best.
At the age of 20 I took a position in the central coast of California as an assistant project superintendant for a large construction project, I checked out Cal-Poly San Luis Obisbo as I had acquired a passion for architecture.
I lived in a steel ocean container or the project portable office. No one but the job laborers who would come in to open the project at 6:00 AM. I worked the hours required and traveled to Cal-Poly every day for about 1.5 years.
WHen I came back to San Diego, I continued to work as a project superintendant for such projects as the Old Globe Theatre and other larger projects. I then compelted my schooling for architecture at New School in Downtown San Diego. Having that in my resume, my love for building ootuweighed my desire to be solely an architect so I began my carred designing and building small remodels with an occassional large project. During this time I did build several apartment projects, commercial projects ans custom homes projects as well.
To this date, I have continued in this same field and loved every day of it.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
There is no real standard pricign system or method for the construction industry, especially for remodeling and other home improvement. Every project is different in numerous ways and cannot be generalized.
We do have a detailed spread sheet and cost breakdown that we provide to out clients whereby in the formulas we stay updated on all the currents costs and methods.
How did you get started in this business?
AT 15 years old, I worked in Tuscon Arizona with my best friend and our neighbor who was a construction project superintendent. just a few short weeks later, I was moved up to apprentice carpenter where I fell in love with the trade. Just before the age of 17 I became a journeyman carpenter. To this day, I have not changed careers and so happy thatg I didn't. It is a good feeling to have the knowledge and talents I have obtained and I am very comfortable in my shoes.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I/we work with all types of customers. Seemingly because of the nature of the Home Improvement industry, most clients are mavericks and have never done anythign like this before. I love working with them and enlightening them. The best part is building their trust and confidence.
Of course I work with Seasoned customers as well and in many cases, I have done every home they and their freinds and family have had built or improved.
High-End clients for lack of a better word for proejcts of the highest calibur are also easy to work with once they realize my expertise, honestry and integrity.
I am happy to work with any client that is truely serious in having their project built, respects quality and experience.
