My name is Alex. I used to be an engineer at Boeing and then after 10 years I was laid off. So I had to make a choice to either find another engineering job or do something else. I have always liked working with my hands and had spent several summers in the trades while in high-school and paying my own way through college. So I decided I would make a go of it as a contractor.

I put myself out there and found an older gentleman who had been a carpenter for 30 years and had knowledge in just about every residential housing trade. So I went to work for him for almost 3 years soaking up everything I could to refine the skills I had built up years before in high-school and college. We did decks, stairs, tiny homes, ADUs, foundations, flooring, drywall, door and window framing, painting, etc. Basically everything required to build a home from digging the foundation to putting on a new roof. All except for licensed plumbing and electrical (those need licensed installers). However there are some small electrical and plumbing tasks that can be done without a licensed technician, and I have done that as well. Like using existing electrical and running a new light or some small plumbing modification for a new tile shower.

Then when I thought it was time, i emerged from under my boss's mentorship wing, and together with my wife, Michell, started our own company, A & M Tradesman Services. Together we believe in a customer first attitude and getting the job done right even if it means taking extra time and costs us money. We haven't done many jobs yet but so far every customer has been extremely happy with the finished product. We work around the customers schedule as well, even if that means working nights. We hope to grow our business into a household name, but that is much further down the road.
