What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Ask questions to find out the needs, direction and desire of the client
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Oregon CCB requires continual construction education for all Contractors. Specialized products also have their own specific training and courses. Most of my knowledge comes from common sense and continual practice in the field of projects. Working with other contractors whom have knowledge of their trades is also another great resource in learning and understanding a variety of construction practices within the industry.

New home construction can usually be based off sq ft costing
costing based on material and labor can change due to market stability if projects are not started soon after the bid. Material is usually the quotient that changes constantly.
Framing is estimated at sq footage pricing like most trades but when there is a project like a remodel costing can change due to unforeseen issues such as dry rot, electrical or plumbing issues not seen behind the drywall or wall covering. I am never surprised to find an unforeseen issue when it comes to remodel because I have experienced many unaccounted for issues that were never discussed in briefings with the designer, engineer, homeowner or other contractors.
How did you get started in this business?
I got started in business because as a framer I was asked to frame many homes for a developer and we were required to have contractors licenses. I have always been a General Contractor though framing is my specialty I am skilled at other trades because just doing framing or concrete is hard work and back breaking so painting a home or building fences is a nice change of pace from the usual.

I have worked with home owners, developers, contractors, architects and designers and engineers.
