Metro General Construction And Design
About
We enjoy the team concept of working with customers. We also plan our homes with what we call a "flexible design concept" that creates more choices beyond the basic plan. This allows our customer to really make their new home uniquely their own.
We have been building homes and doing renovations, large and small, since 1993.
The constant changing variety that each new project brings our company.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We like to get a brief overview so that we can arrange an initial meeting.
Depending on how far along the customer's plans have progressed, we can design from scratch, or work with their design.
We then establish a basic plan and proposal, and provide an estimate for the project. A time frame is also agreed on. We pay close attention to what the customer's goals are. This project is for them.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
We have been licensed in the Commonweath of Massachusets for over 2 decades. Ongoing training is part of our license certifcation, and we are re- certified by the Commonwealth every two years.
We have decades of experience in all phases of residential and commercial construction. A typical project has us permitting and working with Building officials, Street and Highway inspectors, and often, Planning and Conservation Commissions.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Price per square foot is our starting point. Plan details and site conditions vary, so our final price will enclude those things. Early in the discussions we try to come up with a firm estimate, and allow for additional changes and upgrades that give our customers options and flexibity.
How did you get started in this business?

We build for both residential and commercial customers...everything from starter homes and small condos to luxury houses with full custom design.
We focus heavily on custom homes. Recent projects have also included construction for finance companies, insurance demo, and commercial buildings.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
We have recently completed large custom homes in Newton and Burlington, and an auto dealership in Acton.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
To have a good rapport with your builder, and to communicate well. Having a full knowlege of each other's understanding of the project is key. It makes it a smoother and exciting experience for all.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
They should have it clear in their thoughts what the top priorities are: the overall feel of the home; the price point; unique features that they want as essential to their plan.
