Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
At the initial site consultation, the project is discussed in detail ocnsidering the customer's needs, desires and life style, and along with my recommendations: identifying challenges and how they might be met; identifying opportunties and how they might be exploited.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My decision to engage in landscape design was precipitated by a job offfer by a major local (Manchester, NH) landscape design/build company with whom as a member and president of the home owners' association of the condominium I had provided, pro bono, substantial design work.
In reviewing my previous work history it was quite evident that "design" had been an integral component of my successes.; and that these skills were transferable to the landscape design medium.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Fees are based on the nature and the scope of the work. The number, type and complexity of elements contained in any given design affect the cost. While there are some "fixed costs" associated with all desing work, these are usually easily met and are secondary to the aforemention considerations.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my customers are mid- to high end residential; I have been successful with some commercial and municipal and condominium work.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Evaluate the ease of establishing a rapport with a designer. A good designer will work with and augment your ideas, to realize your needs and desires within sound design princlples.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Be open to new and original ideas and accept that athere may be limitations, especially finanical, to your resources.
