Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to visit a potential customer's home to introduce myself and put a face to the company. I review the project and ask as many questions as I can to understand the customer's needs. Then I put together a detailed proposal of service and email it to the customer. If aproved, I get their project scheduled and get materials purchased/ordered. Once it's time to begin working, I arrive at the customer's home on time and with a clean, professional appearance. I follow the schedule we'd planned and always keep the customer notified of my progress and any possible changes or updates to the work scope. When the project is complete, I do a walk through with the customer to make sure they are happy and satisfied with my work. Any issues that are found are immeadiately taken care of, or scheduled for completion.
Regarding payment expectations... I ask for materials costs to be paid up front if I am required to order/deliver them. I ask for half of the agree labor costs at the end of the first day of work and the balance is at project complettion.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Most project work is priced on flat rates. I do charge per square foot for tasks like interior/exterior painting, deck/fence finishing.
What types of customers have you worked with?
The majority of my customers are home owners.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Alway get multiple estimates. Don't base your choice of contractor on price. Look at the contractor's reputation and personality. You will need help again. Developing an ongoing relationship is more important than paying less for services.
