Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
simple... give an estimate on project... agree on price... sign a contract... and your project is under way to completion.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been in the construction industry for more than 40 years. I started working with contractors between 7th - 8th grade installing inground pools, building houses, additions, roofs & pouring cement. I was contracted to build my first house 2 weeks after graduating high school and that summer I installed 3 inground pools.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Priceing is variable depending on job and work involved. We do offer hourly rates for certain skilled workers depending on task, you can contact us for more information.
How did you get started in this business?
I have always worked and built things with my hands since I was a child. Anything from rabbit pens, chicken coops, dog houses, club houses, barns, cabins... Things just kept growing and I loved what I did, so I just kept doing it. I would always be quick to jump on and try to operate any kind of equipment, so I just kept expanding my knowledge any way I could.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Over the years we have worked with individual homeowners mostly, but have had many opertunities to work with Major Commercial Contractors on larger projects. Although they all have thier rewards I think I enjoy working with homeowners the most, it's more personal and seeing a homeowners dreams come true is much more rewarding on a personal level.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The best advise I can give anyone doing any type of contracting is meet the contractor face to face, write down all your questions before hand, ask lots of questions. There is no dumb question!!! make sure contractor is knowledgable in the field you are hiring him for. Never pay a contractor a large sum up front. (not 50% of job before starting)
A person should always feel comfortable with your contractor.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Any time a project envolves dirtwork a customer should ask about "unseen expenses" such as underground spring, rerouting underground or overhead utilities, hitting rock or other things that can delay and/or extend the project. You should ask the contractor for a timeline of project and ask if weather will effect that timeline.
