What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our job process is as follows: 1) Estimator meets customer and measures spaces to be painted. 2) Measurements are input into estimating software and detailed quote is sent to customer via email. 3) If the customer decides to hire us, then a painting crew and job manager will arrive at a scheduled time. The job manager reviews with the painters the areas to work on before job is started. 4) Job is finished on scheduled day and the job manager walks through the final job to inspect for quality and touch base with the customer. 5) A job manager supervises each job and communicates with the customer throughout the process to ensure all needs are met and the final result meets expectations.

All measurements taken are put into an estimation software and database to calculate an accurate price. The price is broken down by area in subtotals, with a total price calculated at the bottom, in our detailed, itemized quotes we send to our customers via email. This is to ensure our price is fair and accurate, visible, and organized so that no area is ever left neglected.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Residential properties, including houses and townhomes, and commercial properties, including restaurants, mall spaces, and offices; interiors and exteriors for all job types. We have provided painting, carpentry and trim installation, drywall repair, power washing, wood rot repair, and deck refinishing for these customers.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Find out if your contractor employs painters who are licensed and insured. Ask if they completely cover painted areas (plastic, drop cloths, and foot coverings) and what their standard of cleanliness is. Inquire about their level of supervision for each job. Ask if they provide free color consultations.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
One should never hesitate to request for a color consultant, whether it be through the contractor they hire or through a local painting store that offers one. Getting the colors just right plays a large part of the satisfaction in the final result. Some customers buy the paint first and then hire a contractor. We recommend hiring the contractor first. Professional contractors typically use higher quality paint from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore and yield a better end result than Behr paint and other lower quality brands. One concern here is customers don't wish to pay a higher materials cost, however, professional contractors, including Five Star Painting, receive excellent discounts from Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore, meaning you receive much higher quality at a comparable price.
