About
Each technician on our team has been trained by the family (family run since 1984) and has a minimum of 7 years experience. We only accept the jobs we're confident in completing successfully, rather than a one stop shop with sub par work in some categories of work.
If we help you with a customer's home project, we'll provide a free detailed, itemized estimate which we stick to (no surpise fees or costs). Upon the customer accepting the estimate, we'll promptly schedule their appointment(s) by phone or email - whatever is more convenient for them. We send reminder calls the day before too.
When the technicians arrive to the appointment, they get right to work, are mindful of the customer's home (we're continuously noted for being clean and tidy), and finish the job in a timely manner. We guarantee most of our work for one year (unless otherwise noted), and are happy to do call backs free of charge if necessary.

Handyman work is very satisfying - you take a visible problem, make the problem go away, and make it as if the problem never existed. Its skilled work that takes a good eye, and and an eye for aesthetics too.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We learn about the customer's project and ensure we can handle the scope of the work. If so, we set up a free estimate and then send the customer an itemized precise quote. Once the customer accepts we schedule the work!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Jim The Handyman has been Northern Virginia's trusted handyman service since 1984. We are licensed, insured, and members of the Association of Certified Professioal Handyman.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We have some set rates but we prefer to not take a one size fits all approach as handyman work can vary quite a bit based on the job. We do offer free estimates and itemized quotes so customers know exactly what they're expecting to pay before the job is even started.
How did you get started teaching?
Any good handyman is always learning from their colleagues. We're a close knit team of handyman that is family, so we naturally are always teaching one another to increase one another's skills and expertise.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Pretty much everybody since Northern Virginia is a very diverse place!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do you research, and don't simply go with the first company that picks up and sends someone out. Its important that the technician (not just the company) knows how to do the specific job you need completed (key word: completed).
