Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We provide free bids. If you are a business or HOA we will require a contract for you to hire us. However, homeowners can hire us with a verbal contract. There is no long term contract. If there is anything you don't like about our work, just let us know so we can fix it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
The owner, Brent, has been in lawn care and landscaping here in Utah valley since 1998. He became a Master Gardener through the Utah Extension program, and at about the same time took the commercial applicator's course and test to become a licensed commercial applicator - a license he has held for about 17 years. Alpine Naturescapes has been licensed since the state has required such licensures for such entities.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We generally use slow release granular fertilizers, which eliminates surge growth. Our fertilization program requires 3 visits per year at a cost of $50 + $5 for each 1000 ft above 5000 sf. In April/May we also provide an optional guaranteed lawn pest application, which we guarantee will eliminate insect lawn damage for the year or we will come back and re-apply for free. The lawn pest application is the same price as fertilization visits.
How did you get started in this business?
When Brent moved to Utah Valley, he worked for another lawn care contractor for a few years. In 2003 Brent started Alpine Naturescapes and has run it continuously since that time.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Brent has mown and maintained churches, HOAs, businesses and private residences over the course of his work to the present. Work includes mowing, lawn and landscape fertilizing, sprinkler installations, alterations and repairs, as well as landscape installation and alterations.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Brent takes pride in his work, and always uses quality materials. One of the best compliments we have gotten is when another contractor came across the street and said the HOA on their side wanted to look as green as the HOA Alpine Naturescapes was maintaining.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Alpine Naturescapes has many references and 5 star referrals. Hire a contractor with experience whose work you know people like.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
People look to hire a contractor generally because they want their property to look the best around. Sometimes this involves solving problems which have plagued them. Brent is not someone who is looking to get started by undercutting everyone else. With more than 2 decades of experience he has seen all the problems which tend to plague Utah lawns and landscapes. If you need problems solved, make sure to hire someone with experience in solving those particular problems. Find someone with pictures of their work so you know what you can expect your property will look like when you hire them.
