Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The typical process for us is to meet with the customer on the job site to evaluate the job go over certain things or ideas that they want to have done and/or not done and look at some options that we have used in the same scenario in the past and to be able to give a fair but yet competitive estimate to the customer ..
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've been in this business for about 25 yrs. I grew up in the construction business and have been around it all my life and know what a fair price is for quality work ...
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I go by the national average cost guide to do a job I don't use the lowest number by all means but I most never use the highest number on the grid because I believe in giving someone an honest days work for an honest days pay and if the customer is happy then that's more rewarding to us than charging the customer as much as we can legally get away with because word of mouth is the best advertisement a company can have because I was once told by an ol'carpenter " You can have all the advertisement venues in the world but nothing beats word of mouth advertisement only because it's fast ,honest, reliable and to the point " ... Most people ask around to their family and friends about who to hire for their jobs needing done ... All I ask is for a fair chance ...
How did you get started in this business?
My stepdad was an outside salesman for a major lumber yard here in Texas and I would go with him on Saturdays and during the summer months to all of the jobs that he supplied materials for and to see if they needed anything or if they had everything they needed for job .. I got to know a lot of the contractors and then I ended up working for a couple different contractors during the summer of my later days in high school .. I was always so amazed at how a house could be built in such a short amount of time and all the contractors that I knew had nice houses as well as a beautiful family and drove nice vehicles and wanted all of those things in my life but it didn't happen over night it takes time .... I once was told that if you love your job then it's not work and watching people's face when your done with a project is priceless . .
What types of customers have you worked with?
I've worked with all kinds of customers from the very pickiest all the way to the easy going but I treat them all with the same amount of respect and give 110% in the work that's being done .
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My advice to a potential customer is to be prepared on knowing exactly what you want done as well what it's gonna take to do the job to some extent not saying you need to know everything about the job at hand cause if that was the case then people like myself wouldn't be needed .. It's just really frustrating when doing a job of decent size and the home owner comes to you and ask " Can you change this out to this or change the color of paint on the walls ... It not only doubles the work for the contractor doing the job but it will also double the the money your paying out in most cases...
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Is this something we can afford to do ? What about unexpected cost for repairs that you can't see because they're either under the flooring ( sub floor , slab , etc.) , could be inside the walls you just never know exactly what you're gonna be getting into until you get in to it if that makes sense..
