How did you get started in this business?
Along time ago I met a couple that gave me work and I started with him in 1996. He originally wanted me out of his property. I was just a kid with a notepad a ruler and a tape measure. I scaled the driveway and a retainer wall I assume finished a 66 yd.³ concrete driveway that still exists and I still know John Brubaker. They were my first customers at the age of 17. I'm 43 it's 2021. I then went To work for commercial companies buildings bridges and many structural work. I then started at residential companies doing beautiful work driveways finished product and homes. I started working for several professional custom home builders and then I went to operations at Brundage bone and drove a machine called a laser screed it's a $1 million piece of equipment that spreads concrete by the mass about 500 yd./h. I then started doing my own business because I believe that I am a much better fit for customers when they demand quality
What types of customers have you worked with?
Residential commercial subcontractors general contractors business owners brokers and many other types of people that have needed my business because I was either recommended or I was a good fit.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Tom Brady 10 Super Bowl appearances six Super Bowls and playing for the first time in the history of the NFL at home with a different team and possibly even win. Makes me very excited to live in a time where the greatest man that ever played a sport was there and I was rooting for him.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always look for pictures consecutive business platforms that can guarantee the consecutive rating around the Internet. Call the Better Business Bureau and the Internet Google the name of the people and their business. Make sure that they do great work and that they have outstanding relations with customers at least 99.9%.Nobody is perfect but you do not want to be with somebody that is not fully blown exposed in the Internet. Do you wanna know where people live do you wanna know who their children are because you're inviting them into your home. Don't look for a person that has a big truck and a big house those people might just hire somebody else to do the work and become the middleman. And the product will not be as good as if you hire the middleman for a little bit more money than the general contractor. General contracting is very important but it's more important to provide quality work. you have to investigate what the work you are doing Hass to look like from the beginning to the end. If you do not know yourself. You might be exposed for a shortcut. You have to be taking pictures of the finished product right before. Document everything all the time ask questions Google the type of work that you were doing several different pages so that you're able to get familiar with the work that you need done. Always ask people for sound answers. Including the foundation of the work regardless whether it's horizontal or vertical. You must ask questions into HOw and from where and when will this be done what time why And who is going to do it
Don't be afraid to ask a question to the contractor that you might think you will regret not asking at the end. You should take a picture of the driver license and their vehicles to your money is always safe. Do you want to have verbal and written contract. Including any video if necessary. This is a lot easier and you can go by three different methods versus just one.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Am I willing to pay the full price for the product. Do I need it? Or can I do without it. Because if you don't ask this budget question and something comes up where you have to spend a little bit more money. You're gonna have to be caught up in a dilemma to where you want to get something a little bit more economic. But you're not noticing that the quality type of product might not be as good as if you were aware that there could be hidden charges more than what you were thinking that you needed to spend because of transitions of construction. Get at least four estimates whoever answers quickest knows more. Whoever answers the longest doesn't care about your business you're just another customer and whoever gives you a small little paper never go with that person. Professional business is very important. Speaking with people and asking customers if they know what you want will be a very important question that you have to ask yourself. Does the contractor know what I want?
