Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Information is key. We ask that all our customers be prepared to be as detailed as possible when they bring an item in for repair. Whether it is just a maintenance or a catastrophic failure, the details matter. It helps us save time in the diagnostic process. Which, in turn, saves the customer money.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our technicians have various technical training backgrounds. Everything from prior military service, motorcycle repair school graduates, to just plain years of hands on experience in this industry.
We attend update schools every year to keep us up to date on all technological advances in our industry.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Every repair shop has a posted shop labor rate. This generally means that the shop should charge a certain rate for a given repair. However, every repair is different and will not require the exact same thing as the repair before yours.
Depending on the item we have a scale of what it typically will cost on average to fix.
We do have a diagnostic charge that is due upon drop off of the item to be fixed. That fee is deducted from the total repair bill should you choose to fix it after the quote has been given.
How did you get started in this business?
Personally, I have been in this industry over 20 years. Started off by working for a national chain store in their outdoor power equipment repair center. Moved on to work with other local mom-and-pop repair centers before opening up a repair center of my own.
There is always a need for quality when it comes to repairs and we try to meet those needs.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with anyone from a first time owner of a piece of equipment to the professional user who runs their equipment daily.
We provide repair services for many landscaping companies in our area.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
We are fond of EVERY repair we do. Knowing that the customer has a smile on their face and a feeling of being able to get back on their projects makes us proud.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Definitely do your research. There is nothing wrong with taking your equipment to the guy or gal that performs services out of their garage at home. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Ask the shop if they use original equipment parts or do they use aftermarket parts. Ask them if they attend yearly update schools. Ask them if they warranty their work. Ask them how long will it take to get your item back. The details make the difference.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Remember to have as much information at your disposal before calling a repair shop. Have things like model number, serial number, overall condition of equipment, problems you are having with your equipment, etc..
