About

I operate a small , personal landscape design/build firm . Specialty is sustainable practices, using local suppliers, materials, native & adapted plants grown locally , native soil amendments (organic), native stone .

I proceed to meet client, gather architectural documents , survey plats, topography, and create a base map at larger scale 1/4"=1"0"to work with clients on. I draw plans rather than computer, but do furnish a final concept as scan and emailed to client in addition to working plans for field work, installations.

The installation is overseen by myself for all trades needed, and administered by myself as owner rep.My designs are like a tailored suit , each a unique solution to client criteria and concerns .

I enjoy meeting people and solving problems, culminating in an artisitic vision that surpasses any expectations .

Frequently asked questions

I like to answer requests promptly, and schedule a site visit to the project asap. Seeing the problems, listening to client takes concentration and filtering ability .Listing criteria from meeting is critical to good working relations , and developing possible concepts .

Process of discussions leads to acceptable final concept, which is drawn up and labeled, printed, scanned , sent to client . Bids are possible at this point, and work schedules are decided upon .When complete , a walk through is done and final payment is given . I work on 50% down at signing , balance after walk through .

I have a 4 year Bachelor of Science degree in Landscape Architecture from Texas A&M University, an ASLA accredited school. A state license exam is needed to practice as Landscape Architect in  Texas , elsewhere .I have never taken one , therefore I practice as Landscape Designer .

I have 38 years as business owner doing landscape construction after designing .Doing residential developments, resorts, golf courses , pools, restaurants, office complexes, single family homes, are just examples of type of work done over the years .

Design work is hourly : my rate is $ 100.00 / hour.

Field work is daily (8hour) rate : $ 500.00

After working for a very prestigious company in Dallas , Lambert's Landscape Company I was trained as small jobs foreman by Mr. lambert's right hand man .Customer relations, bidding, field work . Two more stops lead to greenhouse management , interior plant knowledge, and retail sales , as well as design office experience.  I decided to embark on my own after crossroads moment , while maintaing a large estate 3 1/2 acres in Preston Hollow area of Dallas. Lived on property, taking care of everything outdoors: gravel drive upkeep, large trees, lawns, pool , interior plants, drainage in storm situations, seasonal color.

Mostly homeowners , but occasionally wealthy developers, business owners , ranchers, resort owners .

Small retaining wall of honeycomb boulders (native) with added drainage elements behind wall in Cuernavaca area of Austin Lake Estates . River Hills . 2-4' height , should open lot to more artistic pursuits there , water feature, color, etc.

Ask questions and take a good look at their work. Homeowners have little plant knowledge , and are desperate to relate on some level to professional. The word xeriscape is lost on society to the point of becoming "zero" scape . If company can't explain this it means they are ignorant of the subject and much more .
