About
Hello! My name is Richard Campbell. Im a small engine technician with over 12 years experience and 12 years landscaping experience. I'm factory trained and certified by stihl, shindiawa, echo, redmax, MTD, Kohler, briggs and stratton , hydro-gear , and AYP. I may be missing a few. I was top tech at the shop I worked at and have decided to fly solo since I was in a dead end job surrounded by lazy people that didn't care about their jobs or professionalism . I take pride in my work. And charge what I feel it's worth and not by what a shop would charge. I have no overhead to pay for . In most cases I examine the issue and give a labor estimate based off the issue and sometimes send the customer for parts until I get enough business that I can afford to travel and have parts handy . I still work a full time job elsewhere until my solo gig takes off.. I would be happy to be of assistance with any issue!!! Im highly trained and actually care about my work and want to make sure your happy with the work provided . I'm a consumer myself. I too want what I pay for !! Hope to assist you soon!
Makes me feel great knowing people got exactly what they paid for and how most customers aren't aware of possible mowers potential when properly Maintained and the constant return of folks that trust and know I'm going to fix it or ca t fix it at all. Some things just aren't worth fixing but I'll let you know if that's the case for sure! . I can also try figure things out by phone often without even coming out for a small tiny fee of my time. Depending how long until problem is cured ! I can tell you all day how to do something but unless it's been done before things can get complicated quick!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We would discuss the issue , set up a meet time either my shop or your house either one. If I can't figure it out while I'm on site I will bring it back to my shop and repair said issue if repairable . Some things get too complicated without my entire tool box and special tools and can be worked on in any kind of weather at my shop. I love helping people. I believe in karma. I don't earn my living taking advantage of anyone and never have. I'm fair prices not over priced . Like I've said. I charge what the jobs worth!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Trained , experienced and service updated in almost every engine brand.. Kohler, kawasaki, briggs , Honda.. Can even work on cheap knock off brands as long as repair doesn't exceed cost of said unit. ,,,, I'm also trained , experienced with major hand held equipment brands such as , Redmax , echo, shindiawa, stihl, husavarna, Makita , Poulan, troybilt, cub cadet , Etc. Etc. Etc
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

How did you get started in this business?
Started building fences when I was 13 years old. Cut grass around my neighborhood for money growing up and even did some roofing @ 16 for some not so great folks, eventually got my license and started working with a Christian man cutting grass with just me as his only employee. He showed me the ropes until I could do them on my own if need be and was trusted with doing the job right and not having to go behind me or get nasty calls about me . Never have I ever halfwayed anything. I cut with him for many years . While landscaping I had received an offer of employment at a shop with more pay and benefits than he could offer . I turned in my 2 weeks notice and began working on anything powered by a small engine basically with this company . Started with home owners equipment since it was cheaper than other equipment out there. Became #1 on repairing their warranties we would recieve . Became good at it all since I am mechanically inclined and moved myself up to top pay and working on very high dollar equipment and government vehicles/equipment in 5 years. .. finally @ 12 yrs I still had no more responsibilities than to fix what's written only and let issues leave half repaired if at all or did something for free that wasn't a warranty deal at all and claim would get denied and get attitude because I would help someone with a small issue right away instead of making them wait 4 weeks to be even looked at.. The shop Never had parts in stock anymore since all the new people started or parts were way out of order or In a completely different very incorrect spot because the counter workers are too buisy talking about video games and food and personal lives vs doing something without being told like a hard worker and make sure it's a well oiled machine that could run efficiently without headaches of where someone is or where a part is for a quick emergency repair saying we have in stock and not in box nor area or 12 boxs up down left or right of it or not fighting with 7 other people one who's going to do what and push even the tiniest jobs to the back due to laziness and non-professionalism .... I had lost respect and hope in my future their so quit and ventured out on my own with no distractions of being told or being involved in all the drama. I just wanna live life , do great things , see new faces and places and raise my daughter the best I can with my beautiful wife!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Commercial landscapers , residential equipment , sub contractors ditch machines, contractors generators , police camera stations . Sheriffs task force bus, mobile camera pods and large transport vans, camera vans / generators for the city. And my own personal customers from around the town . If I got time I will fix anything. Including atvs, sxs' s , boats , light mechanical repairs on automobiles / scan codes on them as well.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
Repaired a shindiawa equipment company represenitives weed eater and having a email sent from him to my old boss about how great the job was performed and how it was performing better than when he bought it new ! But the boss didn't care about compliments or proper repairs . I made sure things were fixed right and not a shade tree repair job that was fast and what he wants to hurry n make money not caring about the repair unless the customer complains or gets angry with him lol. Then he gets argumentative and verbally abusive....
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure equipment is not cheaper than 150 since most of those types are in need of major repair or would cost more than half and even up to over cost of replacement of the equipment needing repaired and wouod come with warranty of some kind!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Price. Availability, location and any hidden fees some may sneak in and charge you for . Don't be scammed . Be aware of locations and surroundings . I see too many getting scammed or robbed
