Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every new customer gets treated like a friend. I go over with them what issues they are having I then check out there equipment and call them with an estimate of repairs before I do any work. Everyone really appreciates that about me. I keep them informed every step of the repairs.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I started working on a small engine shop at the age of 13 for a very well educated man. He taught me everything I know about small engines at an early age. I have been in the automotive business parts department I have been a mechanic on tractor trailers and cars but small engines were my passion. I have been doing this kind of work like I said since a very young age. In 2017 I decided to open my own shop and work from here so as you could say I have well over 30 years of experience with small engines all types and brands I don't turn anyone away my plans are to update my certifications in 2020 for four stroke and two-stroke because somethings have changed in the New Year's but I still give 100% to every customer.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I charge $50 per/hr labor plus parts and tax. $60/hr if you supply your own parts. I do pick up and delivery for free within 10 miles of my location. Anything over 10 miles is a flat $20 pickup and delivery fee.
How did you get started in this business?
Like I said I started in this business at a young age work for several companies in different fields over the years when I hit my 40s close to 50 I decided it was time to open my own shop and work from home it's always been my passion to work on small engines I truly enjoy work
What types of customers have you worked with?
I do mostly homeowners, farmers ,I have a few landscapers that I do work for and a Nursery. Also do work for lots of friends and family and friends of family
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I am very fond of my newborn grandson which is a very recent event and I am also very proud of my two older grandsons and all they accomplish in wrestling and baseball just a proud grandpa
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Well to be honest I don't tell anybody they can't go somewhere else you can pay the high prices of the pros and the high prices of their parts and wait 8 to 10 weeks to get your equipment. With me I'm honest I'll give you a reasonable price do outstanding work and have it back to you as soon as possible most times it's less than three days depending on how busy I am. You can ask anyone that I have done business with and they will give me five stars
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
First questions they need to ask what are your labor rates is it worth fixing or is it more cost-effective to just replace it with a new one. Never let the pros per se tell you that it's gonna cost $400 to fix your tractor and when you go to pick it up your bills $800 would've saved you to just buy a new one. I am straight up honest if I think it's not worth fixing I will tell you straightforward If it is worth repairing I will give you a high estimate and low estimate and I always fall in between most of the time.
