Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After we receive a work request, we like to meet our potential new client at their property to discuss and go over the project.
We intently listen to all the needs and/or wants that they are looking to incorprate into the project or job.
Then comes our professionally and most affordable estimate providing full details, options and if we see fit options that some clients may not have thought about or invisioned.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All though we do have several framed pieces of paper on the office wall for different specific areas, I personally believe the best learning, the best training is done HANDS ON in the field. In this area we have been involved in the construction industry since 1990 fresh out of high school and performing apartment maintenance for a Large complex in Allentown. As valuable as seminars and school training wether that's trades school or other schooling. Some of the best retained knowledge comes from the man or woman that taught us how to replace, repair or maintain thru their actual life experiences.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We dont not have a "standard" or "printed" price sheet ONLY because here at IOPM every client and every job is unique and hopefully going to offer different challanges we need to work thru , therefore we take everything into account on a "per job" basis.
How did you get started in this business?
I personally got started in 1990 out of high school when a cousin worked as a general cleaner for a large apartment complex. I honestly got hired as a cleaner , which did not take long for the maintenance supervisor to take notice to the young kid who put 110% forth no matter the task at hand and began giving me maintenance tasks .
I stepped away from maintenance for a short period and tried my hand as a machinist where quickly rose to top position this shop had to offer.
Got offered a position in a drilling company within the International Elevators Union where I spent many years until getting scouted by the owner of an elevator company.
Fast forward 14 years later to one of the most fulfilling jobs creating the name, working for the name - IOPM
What types of customers have you worked with?
IOPM has worked for every walk of life. Young and old, individuals and large families, local and far, from the state of PA to just moving here from another country.
IOPM has spent equal time in the commercial industry with many clients ranging from Amazon fulfillment and Charles Swabb to Xfinity LIVE Philly to Outback Steakhouse, Carabbas and Planet Fitness.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
My advice to practically every potential client would be this....
Estimates should be FREE and always are @ IOPM
You can and should get multiple estimates, your contractor should be cofindent in his/her own abilities not to be concerned by addtional estimates.
Never pay in full, a reasonable deposit usually is required along with a contract for the added protection of not only you, the client but also for us, the contractor.
Lastly do not sit silent, speak your mind, express your concerns and ask questions.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
I feel to answer this would be difficult due to the fact we feel no question is a dumb question, so ask away.
At IOPM you will discover that we will ask our clients MANY questions on all subjects and matters, this helps us get a better understanding of our client.
