Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
There isn't much that stands out to me in the process of working with somebody new. I come out to meet them and we create a vision together allowing us to both be on the same page for what needs to get done. Then effectively finishing the tasks at hand whilst communicating with the HO through the process would be the following step. Not much to it, keeping the typical construction process is how we keep things professional.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I had apprenticed under many contractors for years. Thrust into leading many others, I have been the one who has to know everything for years. Taking that experience and trying and learning new things on projects with my own hands has also played a part in my education. As a longtime framerand general contractor, reading building details as well as leading and inspecting construction work has given me a very capable mind of doing any task I'm willing to throw myself at.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
No. There is no simple pricing system as any inaccuracy on a bid can cause a company to lose the profit margin it needs to be sustained. As each and every project is different, the details that go into it are priced out thoroughly to make sure we never overcharge or undercharge.
How did you get started in this business?
I started by having nothing to do on a hot summer day after finishing my farming season. A buddy of mine with his own business asked for a hand and I've been in the business ever since...
What types of customers have you worked with?
Types of customers? I have worked with Builders, Homeowners and other Contractors. All types of people are welcome to me in my bids.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I don't care much for special events however I am happy that I was able to build a pool cabana for a homeowner that happens to be an amazing person over the summer. It was a great experience and they got a beautiful area to entertain their guests out of it.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Be aware of costs in all areas. There are a lot of factors when it comes to costs and those who are not contractors may be unaware of them. This often puts a big damper on most homeowners projects, as they either aren't aware of the material and supply costs for the project they are seeking, or uneducated on profession contractor service costs.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Think what is it that you are trying to accomplish and what is the budget you allow for it.
