Our experience with John Barbosa was absolutely one of the most horrific experiences of our lives. This man is rude, incompetent and a danger to anyone who makes the mistake of hiring him. This is a report from Power Plumbing, the company we had to hire correct and complete the job: Hello – following are our plumber Brian’s findings on your water heater installation code violations and corrections. The first two photos have arrows pointing to code violations, the third photo is the corrected installation.
When Brian arrived he noted many issues with installation by others, including: broken venting, wrong material used for water supply lines per code, wrong material for T&P line and it was not glued or supported, earthquake strapping was not installed correctly, gas line was too long with no drip leg, and water supply lines were reversed. No expansion tank as per code. Basically we had to completely uninstall and reinstall from scratch. Other installer had used wirsbo water supply lines which per code are not allowed to be within 18” of water heater exhaust, this is a fire hazard. The hole in the venting was allowing carbon monoxide to flow freely into the garage and from there possibly into the living space. Corrected all issues, installation is now up to code.
I hope someone is able to revoke any licenses he may have to save anyone else the misery we were forced to endure because of John Barbosas incompetency and insulting behavior.

Plumber John was an excellent choice for me to do my gas line connection to the kitchen as I wanted to switch gas range . John showed up on time and overall he did an amazing job with reasonable price as compared others. The most satisfying part was he would explain every step in detail as he would progress in the procedure. Safety concerns was his top priority.
I highly recommend that you won’t regret hiring this guy 👍

My experience with Plumber John started out great, he was willing to work with my schedule and do the work after I got home from work. My request was to have a water line installed for my new refrigerator that would be delivered on a Friday. He arrived on the Wednesday before at about 6pm and started the project. Due to not having access under my house, we decided to tap into the shower water line which was the closest place to connect. Around 7:30 he was ready to turn off the water to the house to tap into the water line. Unfortunately, the valve was stuck and would not turn. I contacted the water company the following day and the water company had to replace the valve.
On Thursday, John returned around 6pm to continue the job. After all connections were made and he was able to turn the water back on, the connection was leaking. He double checked the connections and could not get it to stop leaking. This was at 11:30pm. He told me that he would be back in the morning(Friday) after getting a replacement part to finish before my refrigerator was delivered. He never showed up nor did he contact me to let me know why. After multiple messages to him, he finally contacted me at 6pm to let me know that he would not be able to finish the job this day due to vehicle problems and that he would be by on Saturday. Keep in mind that my water is still turned off from the night before due to the leak.
On Saturday, he shows up around 1pm with a friend of his(which I was not informed of beforehand). Because of the communications mix up, he offered to install my new kitchen faucet for a reduced rate of $50 which I accepted. While his friend worked on the job I hired him for, he installed the faucet. After another trip to Home Depot to get more parts, he finally finished. One of the things he also told me is that he doesn’t mark up the parts and gives them at his price, yet he charges over double what he pays. (I have the internet, I can look up the cost of parts)
So in conclusion, the job I originally hired him for did get done, but not by John, instead by his friend. Would I hire him again? NO! The only reason I am writing this review is because I have received 10 texts or emails from homeguide requesting that I confirm I hired him. No wonder why he has so many reviews that are all 5 star.
