Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We meet at your home and walk around the property. After we talk about the details of project, I measure the site and create a map of the existing landscape. In a couple weeks, I present a first draft of the design that includes the master plan (map), computer generated images of the future landscape, and pictures of all the hardscape materials and plants. This gives you the information you need to give me feedback about the design. The final version is usually presented a week later. I can then bring in contractors or provide instruction for Do-It-Yourselfers.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a degree in Landscape Design. I also have years of experience as a project manager, and I know how to deliver projects on time and on budget.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Designs start at $1800 for a backyard renovation. From there, prices adjust for the size of the property, complexity of the site, and complexity of the design.
How did you get started in this business?
I was a Master Gardener, and wanted to turn my passion into a business. I interned with a design/build firm, got my degree, and started my business.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I do new construction as well as renovation. I have worked with clients with varying tastes: some want low-maintenance NorthWest, some want a colorful country display, some want contemporary lines, and some want a tropical look.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
I created a multilevel deck overlooking a waterfeature. Then I added in the firepit, the vegetable garden, and a spot for the trampoline. I also added in tall evergreen trees to block the view of the neighbors. Grasses and low maintenance perennials filled in the areas along the paths. It was designed for exactly how that family wants to live.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
