Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Just the basic Q & A at first to see what they may want it if they know what they want. After it's only a matter of time before we have an idea if what to do and where to get it.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Over 16 years experience in landscaping. My father owned a commercial landscaping business for about 23 years and liquidated it 2010. I took over his only residential client and have grown since. I'm not a corporate man, just a hard working businessman born and raised here in Oklahoma.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
As a matter of fact I do, your standard neighborhood yard, where I'm from, is about .5 to .75 acre. That's front, side and back of the house, for which I charge a minimum of $30 depending on grass height and thickness. Prices of services include mow bag or mulch (bagging is extra), weedeating, edging and cleanup unless negotiated otherwise. For 1+ acre, usually riding mower, I have a $60 minimum bagging n/a.
How did you get started in this business?
Working with my father for nine years, learning watching and most importantly, training. I didn't know it at the time but when the time came I stood up and made something of myself. Now it hasn't all been sunshine and rainbows lol don't let anyone fool you, I've had my ups and downs. All was a learning process I experienced first hand and still came through.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Haha all types and I mean, all types but have only had one bad experience in all my years.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Helping my friends sell their house a lot quicker than they expected. I remodeled their flower beds all around the house they loved it and so did the people that bought the house. I don't know what it is our why I like it so much but there's just something about taking either nothing, or in this case, redoing existing beds it just makes a house pop.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Question them in everything and anything you can think of. Have multiple choices and repeat questions, comments or concerns between all of them. Go with your gut and try not to be over priced.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What will they need? How much materials, what kind and where to get them from? Is there a warranty? What are they looking for? What size of project is this? What kind of maintenance will it require? If they are installing we'd mesh, is it done right? Did they install all materials properly? Anything else you can think of relating to your project/projects.
