People were handing me too much money to help them and they wanted receipts and invoices. I had to officially register as a data processing consultant with the county for sales tax purposes so I could operate as a sole proprietorship named SLZ and Associates.

When it comes to problems and solutions, most people just want it fixed so they can get back to business as quickly as possible. Though not required try to become as knowledgable as you can and keep track of details related to problems. If possible, questions should be as specific and focused. The more information you have about an issue helps a technical person zero in the problem and saves time and money. At a minimum, write down any issues you want resolved, sort of like a shopping list, review it, sleep on it and maybe a few other issues will come to mind before you ask for help.
