Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Communication and finding the most comfortable way of doing that. Most folks do not have any idea except that maybe they have a plant or flower their mother/grandmother had. I start with do you have a theme? Then I identify 6 different gardens. I'll cover color/form/texture & 4 Seasons color. Finally (my most effective tool) I have a library of trees and plants in pictures suitable for the zone the project is in and Videos of past work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I've grown plants and trees from all around the world. They are on display at my farm.
How did you get started in this business?
Parents were Military and they loved gardens and zoos. That's where we spent time no matter what state or country we were in.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Take an area of your project and ask "what would you do here"? They should first note what direction the sun sets and how much sun the area receives.
A good landscaper will try and coax elements you like before answering your questions.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Soil/ irrigation /mature size of plant materials/yearly maintenance
