About

Work done exclusively by the owner, no middleman, deal directly with the owner. I bid the work, I do the work, never no one in your house but me or on occasion maybe my wife. I am a full hardwood floor mechanic. I install, I sand, stain, finish, repair and do maintenance. I have been doing hardwood floors since 1980. I do the finish the old way by applying the finish with a brush. I do 3 coats and if its a stain job, 1 coat of stain with 3 coats of polyurthane. I use oil based products. I do not do water-based products one of the reasons is because it is very costly and does not hold up as well as oil based products. I run all the equipment, sander, edger, nail guns, etc. I do step treads and do shoe mold also. You can see my reviews on Angie's List. I have an A plus rating with the BBB.

I take pride in my craftsmanship. Taking old floors and making them look new is a joy! I treat the floors as if they were mine and in my own house, and yes I have hardwood floors in my own home. I have been doing hardwood floors since 1980. I still do the floors the old way of hand brushing the finish so there’s a good thick coat each time the finish is applied (3 coats).

    Frequently asked questions

I like to meet with the homeowner , measure the work to be done and explain the process I take to do the work. I explain how I get paid. I get one half of the job to start with balance on completion. Sometimes if I am installing floors it might be a little more to cover the extra cost of hardwood flooring materials.

I was trained by a couple of the best hardwood flooring men in Charlotte !

I price my work per square foot and have a minimum price of $550.00.

I was trained by a man from up north, and went to work for one of the best companies in the business and worked for him for 27 years. I bought my first big machine(main floor sander) from my old boss and my first van. I worked for my boss (Lee Chavis, Chavis Floor Finishing) during the day and nights and weekends for myself until I had my business off the ground. Then I only worked for myself.

I have worked for all kinds of people. I mostly do residential work on high end properties, but still do small jobs that other companies my not care to do.

Be Leary of cheap prices. Sometimes cheaper isn’t always better. Ask for references. Sometimes cheap prices means less work done on the job such as the number of coats.

How many years experience do you have? Do you do the work yourself? What is your process? How many coats do you apply? How long will the job take?
