I got into this industry with a background in customer service and a passion for transforming landscapes. It was immediately apparent that some landscaping companies treated customers badly, didn't follow through on promises and were generally unpleasant to work with. I founded Sod Smith to remedy these common frustrations and truly follow through with excellent results. That, in a nutshell, is what seperates us.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Before anything else, I like to have a five minute introductory conversation about you and your project. I want to hear about the current state of your yard and what your ideal results are to determine if our company would be a good fit. During that conversation, I also like to lay out a price range for similar projects so that we don't waste your time when it comes to the quoting phase. If our conversation goes well, we schedule a free estimate appointment. During the appointment, we measure the square footage of the project and take notes on everything relating to the project scope. We then write up a quote and send it to you within 24 hours of the estimate appointment. If you choose to move forward with us, we put a date on the calendar and collect an initial deposit for materials and delivery. After the job is complete and you are 100% satisfied with the work, we collect the final payment. Finally, we send a thank you email with the beautiful before and after pictures from you project as well as a printable sod maintenance guide to ensure healthy growth.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've worked in the landscaping industry for over five years. My professional experience prior to landscaping was in customer service, and I noticed a gap in the industry. In 2015, I created Sod Smith to provide quality landscape installations as well as first rate customer service and communication.

Due to the complex nature of sod installation, we do not have standard pricing. Please call me at (651) 967-7513 for price ranges.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We service customers living in Twin City neighboorhoods (typically South Minneapolis) looking for sod installations. Our customers care about professional communication and quality results. We are licensed and insured, and proud to say we've never had a lawn die.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Definitley ask about their installation process. Sod is a delicate material and needs proper preparation for lasting results. I'm happy to discuss our process and explain the reasons behind what we do.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Do you have an irrigation system? How many square feet is your project? Does the area require grating? What is the condition of the current surface?
