Pete Martin The Painter
About
Attention to detail.
I am not the "horror stroy" contractor that everyone has dealt with or knows someone that has dealt with. I show up on time, I keep my clients informed, I am clean and courteous, and I do the work that I tell you I am going to do (usually in a detailed contract).
Also, I am always seeking out better ways to make my job easier and your experience less stressful. I have invested a lot in sanders that contain over 99% of the dust they create. I purchase safety itmes such as Pivit Ladder tools and ladders levelers. My goals are always to do the best job that I can, to do the job as effeciently as possible, and to always keep myself, my employees, and your property safe.
Also, I follow the rules...I carry liability insuranc, and when I have hire help during the busy exterior season I carry workers comp insurance. I am also registered with the state.
The satisfaction of transforming a customers image into reality. My motto is "A fresh coat of paint can change the mood of a room."
P.S. I also do exterior work.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Meet with them to discuss the work that needs to be done...Is it just a quick "freshen up" of a total redo...new colors on walls and trim. On exteriors I get up on the ladder to determine if any work needs to be done by a carpenter or handyman before I start my work.
We will also discuss when the work will be done. I often ask during the initial contact. If is something that they want or need to have done right away, I am often unable to acccomodate. This is less true during the slower season...usually right after Christmas to mid-March.
I then send a quote to do the work with a destricption of the work that needs to be done.
if the home owner decides to go with me I write up a detailed contract of the work to be done and payment schedule.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I work with a generally contractor for approximartely five years, for whom I did a lot of painting.
I am also trained to do lead work. I can work with lead paint safely. I do not do lead abatement.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I do not have a standard pricing system. Every paint job is different. Much of the scost has nothing to do with what is to be painted, but rather what has to be painted around. For interiors this could mean furniture, chandeliers, or tight spaces. For exteriors that big issues are always plants and trees and dormers.
The harder it is to get to what needs to be painted, and the more stuff that needs to be protected from paint, the longer the job will take.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do not wait. Good painters are usually busy. This is especially true in the warmer (exterior season) months. I have often spoken with customers for whom I am the third or forth painter that has told them that I will be unable to paint their home in them time frame that they desire. The best time to call for a exterior job is early spring if not earlier, and if you have an interior that needs to be done within a time frame call painters as soon as possible. The earlier you call the easier they can fit you into their schedule.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Are you insured! What is your porcess. If they do not sand, and clean you should be worried. The exception for sanding would be flat paints and stains.
