I hired Southern Coatings & Renovations to remodel two of my bathrooms which were in terrible condition with poor plumbing, non-working tubs, paint peeling from wall, floors worn and outdated. Today, I have two beautiful bathrooms, with all updated plumbing, new fixtures, new tub in my upstairs bathroom with beautiful tile up to ceiling. Fresh and clean paint job, new mirrors and lights, and I have a new floor which is gorgeous. My master bathroom is not quite finished, but the work that I hired them to do is top of the line. They took out an old outdated tub, installed new plumbing stopping the leaks, and they built a brand new stand-up shower, with new tile to ceiling and tile on bathroom floor. When I purchase my new vanity for my master I will call them to install without hesitation. Clyde and his son Jeremy are great people to work with. Great team. (Oh, and I had them tear down a wall in my master to make it bigger ... best decision I've made. Now I have a larger bathroom!) I'm so pleased!

About this pro

I meet with the homeowner before, during and after the proejct starts to set a clear line of expectation for the project.  I discuss with the crew what the expectations are for the project, starting and finish times, ensure materials are delivered and that the job site is cleaned up on a regular basis.

Transforming a home, bathroom, kitchen, basement or other project into a finished product that the homeowner is pleased to show their family, friends and guest.  What I strive to achieve is the WOW! factor.

Q & A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Set a no-cost, in home appointment to discuss homeowners plans and ideas for the project.  Prepare an estimate for the project, meet with the homeowner to discuss the estimate cost, time for construction, completion and clean-up.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been in the construction business since 1978 working with commercial and residential projects.  I have built churches, schools, daycare facilities, airplane hangars, major residential remodeling projects as well as bathroom, kitchen, basement and attic remodeling projects.  We have completed wood flooring, laminate flooring and porcelain tile projects.  We have also completed major deck remodeling and deck extension projects, painting (interior & exterior), roofing and garage remodeling projects.

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Price depends on the project.

How did you get started in this business?

After completing 10 years in the military, I was offered a project with a major buidling supplier.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Residential & Commerical

Describe a recent project you are fond of.

A major bathroom and master bedroom remodel after a fire.  We were able to expand the bathroom, walk in closets, add a Japanese oaking tub, walk in shower, heated floors, barn door enclosure, lighting and new plumbing.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Ensure their ability to complete the project, on-time and on budget to your satisfaction.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

What are the allowances for flooring, plumbing and electrical.  What are your expectations for this project.  Do you understand that with construction comes disruption in your home so you want to keep the disruption to a minimum, set realistic time goals for the completion and ensure that the contractor shows up dailly in the agreed on times and that they won't be jumping from job to job until your project is complete.
