Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically contact the customer directly as the business owner to find out what they truly need. A lot of times people end up overpaying or not getting what they really want because the cusomter doesn't understand all of their options. I try first to consult them and then once they make an informed decision act on the choice they made.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an BA in information systems, an AAT in Computer programming, as well as an AAT in E-Commerce Web Design. I have several industry certifications from Comptia, the most recognized certification tester, the first being my A+ certification, my Net+ certification, and my Security+ ceritfication. Couple all of that to 13 years of on the job experience and you have a company like mine working for you.
How did you get started in this business?
I went to work out of college for a professor I admired who did consulting on the side. After a couple of projects I felt I was being taken advantage of and felt that if he could do the job without doing the work that I could certainly do the job better if I was the one doing the work and providing the service.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Mostly small to medium sized businesses with less than 20 computers. I started in residential and with more and more experience with business level equipment and technology I started gaining more small business clients.
Describe a recent project you are fond of.
I recently did a 48 High definition camera system installation at a new business. It was a really great project for me because I was able to work with the business owner and plan a security strategy for him. It was finished without a hitch in the time provided. I also got a new customer who now uses me as their IT provider.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Can they speak your language? Often times computer professionals are speaking above your head, which I greatly dislike. How we communicate to the customer directly effects how we are not only perceived by them but how comfortable they feel with us.
