Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First I start by introducing myself and giving the client a bit of background information about my business. I usually can provide a basic estimate over the phone however I do let customers know that those numbers could change upon arrival depending on the condition of the home. Once a client has decided to go ahead and book with me I arrive promptly on time and provide all my supplies and equipment to get the job done and then I generally do a quick walk-through with the homeowner so they may point out any areas of concern or any areas they do not want cleaned. After that as long as they have no more questions I usually just go ahead and jump right in and get started . I am extremely meticulous when I clean so it generally does take me slightly longer than most companies as I am extremely detail oriented.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
No formal training per se however I’ve been cleaning since I was a young girl always rearranging my room and organizing my closet by color up until my early 20s when I would go over to my bachelor friends houses and just start cleaning because I couldn’t stand the clutter in the mess I usually didn’t charge them anything just because I was doing it as a good friend I started to have friends here and they ask if I would be willing to come clean their entire homes for a fee so I started to do that on the side when I had time. I was in the restaurant business before I started my own business and it was extremely stressful and I felt underappreciated and overworked also underpaid. At that point I decided it was time for a career change and decided to go ahead and start my own cleaning business since I’ve always been an extremely neat tidy and organized person and I truly enjoy helping others in anyway possible even if something a small as making sure they have a clean home Whatever the reason may be whether they’re too busy they have a family they travel a lot they’re bachelor doesn’t matter to me I don’t judge I’m just there to help. I also love the instant gratification I get from cleaning. As instant results are seen daily by that I mean I could walk into a home that is a complete disaster area and by the time I leave that day it is completely clean dust freeze sparkling bathrooms and kitchen sanitized Tap bathroom in the same with the Floors It’s a very great feeling to look at before and after pictures and see just how far I can have someone’s home change in one day plus my clients are always super grateful and usually very surprised at how hard I work and how I seemingly never miss anything that needs to be cleaned.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Yes, generally I charged fixed rates so that means that I charge based off the size mean square footage and how many bedrooms and bathrooms the home has are there any pets in the home, when the home was last deep cleaned and a few other small factors. However I would like to mention that the initial service is always considered a deep clean as opposed to a standard the reason for this is it gives us a chance to learn the layout of the home and also assess the Prepare it for standard either weekly biweekly or monthly cleanings. Anything over six weeks time would be considered a deep clean so if you only have your home cleaned every six weeks it’s always going to be a deep clean. There is a price difference in both of those services obviously is more detailed than the other also it wouldn’t be fair to myself and staff if we were only hired to come let’s say once every three months and that’s the only time the home is being cleaned is every three months it’s going to take us a lot longer than if the home we kept up either on a biweekly or weekly or monthly serviceso that is why we generally sign up for either weekly biweekly or monthly service however we do not require it just keep in mind that anything after six weeks will be considered deep clean and if upon arrival the conditions are even worse than had been expected there can be extra fees added on
How did you get started in this business?
Back in 2001 I worked for a commercial cleaning franchise called coverall back in Virginia where I was born and raised. Basically what they did is they sold cleaning franchises and they helped the franchise get their business set up by providing them with commercial cleaning clients. I found it to be pretty interesting because coverall main office would take care of all the franchisees billings, retaining customers, getting new customers, training the franchisee owners on proper practices for commercial buildings. It seemed like a really great concept and very lucrative for our franchisees and it also helps those that didn’t have experience running a business before as far as you know customer service issues, pricing, just a thing that you could imagine that would come up coverall basically dealt with the Clients directly as opposed to calling the franchisee which I do think helped the franchisees be able to retain clients much much longer as all they had to do was focus on the cleaning part and cover all took care of the rest I never got into commercial cleaning with my particular business Just because I prefer a smaller more hands on tight situation with my clients. But it definitely got me interested in the industry and I learned quite a few tricks of the trees so to speak from that job many years ago
What types of customers have you worked with?
Ive worked with strictly residential clients. From bachelors, new Moms, busy families, and elderly couples. I've done one time cleanings such as move outs/ins, monthly, bi weekly, and weekly services. I enjoy talking with and meeting people from all walks of life and my clients will tell you I am extremely friendly, reliable, but most of all thorough and extremely trustworthy.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
Most recently I was able to help an elderly couple clean their very dusty dirty home as they are snowbirds they are only at this particular home six months out of the year so the rest of the time it sits there. That being said it was extremely dusty and had Quite a few issues with lime and calcium buildup in the showers however they were extremely impressed with my work although it did take me three trips to the home to get in tiptop shape.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
The first advice I would give is to decide if you are one thing a quality service that may be a slightly higher price or if you are just looking to save a few bucks and more than likely won’t be 100% satisfied with the work you receive I’ve had so many clients tell me They chose a company simply because they were cheaper and regretted it almost instantly basically after the company left they realize that the work that they provided was nowhere near worth what they had paid . Generally speaking I believe you get what you pay for when it comes to service and quality items I will admit that my pricing is slightly higher than some companies in the area but it is because I do know my worth and the value of my work I know this from being a business for over six years And never not once receiving any sort of complaint in regards to the quality of my service
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
I would definitely go ahead and make that decision whether you would rather spend a little bit more and know that you’re getting quality results each and every single time or maybe save a couple bucks and not so sure what kind of service you’ll receive also a good question to ask Will the same person or person these servicing my house each time as some larger companies tend to have high turnover rates so there could be a new person in your house each week as opposed to my business I work alone it is a lot more work it’s a lot easier for me to guarantee the results will be phenomenal each and every service I would also ask and be prepared to sign a contract, and make sure that you ask about any and all hidden fees upfront I personally don’t have any hidden fees generally the price I quote you over the phone it’s the price that you pay when I get there unless for some reason The home is a lot worse than we had spoken about prior to me coming out to clean for you which is why I always make sure to let all clients know that when I do give estimates over the phone it is simply an estimate and that price may change generally it does not change in the past if it has changed it was because significant details were left out when the client reached out for the quote it was a lot dirtier in a lot worse condition than expected
