Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to see the home to give a better estimate. I like to meet with a new client to discuss their needs, likes, dislikes, etc. At that time I can offer you my services and explain what will take place on my first visit and each visit thereafter.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a passion for home decor. I am self taught through following and learning from other high profile interior designers, reading books & magazines on the subject, trial and error over the years, and watching many, many home design shows ;). I can not help it....it's in my blood! I came from a home where money was tight, and I had to learn to be very creative, as I wasn't albe to just go out and buy what I needed. Thus, began my Re-Designing journey. So, I know how to use what a client already has....furniture, decoritive items, or whatever I can find....just in a better, more functional way. A lot of people have good taste, they just don't know how or where to place things once they have purchased them.....I've seen it over and over. I can create a harmonious flow of things, with, most of the time, just a few simple changes or momements of things you already own. I like decorating on a dime, without sacraficing style. I've been helping people with their home decor since I was a teenager, and have 20 years experience in residential cleaning as well.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
For home organizing, space planning, furniture placement, etc, I can work with any budget. Please don't hesitate to call me, as I truly have a passion for what I do and love offering my assistance to anyone who wants to have a more fucntional, clutter-free home. We can discuss my fee during my initial consultation.
As far as housekeeping services, I do have a formula I use based on how many rooms will be cleaned, as well as the overall condition of the home. Example....has it been previously maintained? Is there a lot of nick nacks to consider?, etc.
How did you get started in this business?
On the housekeeping side of it....I began working for another company many years ago. The company that I worked for decided to go out of business, and the clients that I serviced wanted to keep me on as their housekeeper. So, I stayed with them and gained more clients through word of mouth. Since then, I added in doing home organizing, space planning, furniture placement as well as home staging assistance for those getting ready to sell their homes.
What types of customers have you worked with?
All of my clients are residential. Some live in single family homes, some in condo's or apartments. And all different budjets.
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
I worked with a new client that needed a lot of help getting better organized. She had hired me to clean only. I went above and beyond by cleaing and dusting a large built in shelving unit in their family room. It was from floor to ceiling with all sorts of things on the shelves. Not only decorative itmes, but things that just didn't belong there. Socks, papers, candy,....a catch all for everything. I removed everything from the wall, cleaned and dusted the items, and arrainged the decorative items back onto the shelving.....leaving out what didn't belong. (the customer had some personal decluttering homework to do) My customer was thrilled. Absolutely thrilled. And I was thrilled because she was!! That's what makes it all worthwhile. Making my customers happy.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Ask questions. Get specifics regarding what is expected and what will be received. Make a list of any special instructions and leave it for the professional.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
What they want to acheive? Organized home? A quick pick-up and vacuum? Deep clean? Windows?
Think about what your needs are and make a list.
