Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We would start with a site visit meeting to discuss the customers plans and wishes. I would take measurements and formulate a wish list. I will then pull together an estimate of all costs associated with the proposed project. I will email a copy of the estimate to the customer and floow up with a meeting to go over all the details of the estimate.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have over 35 years experience in the building, remodeling, and design of residential construction. I also have experience in shoreline buiding and fema regulations as they pertain to current new home construction. Additonally we have experience in light commercial construction specifically, medical, retail, and office remodeling.
How did you get started in this business?
This business started in 1957 with my father who was a gifted carpenter. I started working for him at the age of 16 and after 4 years in college took over the family business in 1983.
When I started working for him in my teens we did everything ourselves. from digging and pouring the concrete to roofing.
The only people we hired were the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and drywall contractors. It was a great way to learn the business. Because of this I have an detailed understanding of how all of my subcontractors do their jobs. As you can imagine this helps in keeping your job costs, progress, and quality in line.
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with all kinds of people on all kinds of projects. I take a personal interest in them all. From residential repairs to large shoreline homes, from commercial offices to dental facilities we have a large satisfied customer base of varied projects.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Always ask for references, call at least a few of them and talk to them about their experience with the builder.
Ask to see a completed job. We have customers that are happy to show their homes, condo's, additions, kitchens, etc.
Get three quotes and choose the price and the builder you feel most comfortable with.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Wish list, Design, Budget, timeline, resale,
