JB is a great communicator and his attention to detail shows in the end product. We literally had no punch list.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

1) Discuss project details briefly over phone with potential client and determine if there is a potential good fit.

2) Meet with client at residence to get overview of work with a deeper discussion of their landscape goals, likes/dislikes, lifestyle, etc.  Determine a budget if possible.

3) Draft landscape design plan and formulate construction estimate.  Present to client in person, revise as needed to a final plan and construction proposal.

4) Upon approval of plan and budget, start construction phase and oversee/manage installation, continue to discuss details with client during construction and resolve any issues to ensure customer satisfaction till project completion.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

BSLA Landscape Architecture

Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.

Typically $500 design fee for front yard, same for back yard, to be credited back to client with a signed construction agreement.

Standard unit pricing for construction shown in line item format to ease with budget reduction, staging for future date, and clarity of total project price.

How did you get started in this business?

Education then working in the landscape design/build field for 20 years.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Residential and a few commercial

Describe a recent event you are fond of.

Solving an irrigation problem on site after an outside irrigation tech was unable to solve the problem, more importantly relieving stress from a client that was leaving town shortly after.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

There are no stupid questions, ask questions early and often, keep asking questions.  Find someone that you feel comfortable working with and trust.  Price and budget is always an important consideration but so is a knowledgeable designer and construction supervisor that can add great value.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

Think about their basic design style likes, their uses of the space, and budget.  Keep it simple at the start.  A good designer will cause you to think of things in a different way or perhaps you never thought of during the initial discussion.
