Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I introduce myself and the IT professional that will be assisting them. I ask about what they are experiencing or what kind of computer they're using such as a Dell PC or an ASUS laptop. I take my time to listen to the customer and empathize with them. I take detailed notes about the issue and I assure them that they will get my complete attention to this.
I approach every new customer issue like a detective. I ask detailed questions of the customer such as "did the issue you experienced have a pop up window with some text about the error?" or "can you recreate the issue"?
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have two computer science degrees that form the foundation from which I've built my career.
Over the last 20 years, I've acquired a large number of skills that have aided me in gaining new opportunities in the Information Technology field.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge $45/hour for my services.
How did you get started in this business?
The COVID outbreak made it difficult to find employment so I decided to venture out for myself. Since that decision, I have assisted many clients with upgrading their computers and network capabilities to keep up with the new work from home environment.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Most of my customers are home based computer users who need a router upgrade or their computer tuned up.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Don't just choose someone who says they can fix anything because that's simply not true. No IT professional can fix everything. We are constantly learning new things about technology and how to support it. Choose someone you feel confident that can fix your specific issue.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
I always use the analogy of a doctor and a mechanic. You trust your mechanic to fix your car and your doctor to assist you with your help. Why wouldn't you want an IT professional to fix your computer issues?
