I typically, charge the going rate for the state where I am doing the workn and make adjustment according to the length and complexity of the work as well as customers affordability.

A company hired me as a general contractor to do some jobs for them and I decided after completing those jobs to continue as a contractor.

Always go with a company willing to listen and explain what the process will be and explain it again at the end.
