Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always travel to the prospective client's residence, in order to survey the site and get a good understanding of the client's needs and desired outcome. Once the site survey is completed I gather all the required information and pricing for materials, and typically deliver a free quote within 48 hours (depending on my current workload). I can send the quote via text or email, or meet the client at their residence to deliver the quote in person and answer any questions, discuss a potential start date, etc.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I'm formally trained in Switzerland, and hold professional diplomas in both landscaping and horticulture. Each of these programs comprise 3 years of formal classes, as well as various professional internships. My diplomas are available for viewing and I'm happy to answer questions related to my training.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
I typically charge by the hour for most projects; the hourly rate quoted depends on the complexity of the project. I also include estimated pricing for materials as well as waste removal in my quotes.
How did you get started in this business?
Being formally trained in landscaping, I can proudly say this is my chosen career from the beginning! Growing up in the Swiss Alps I've always been a lover of nature and the outdoors; my French grandparents owned a busy flower shop on the French Riviera, and my Swiss uncle and cousins owned a landscaping company and a tree/vegetable seedling nursery, where I often tagged along to help out. I was always volunteering to go mow lawns at my grandparents' houses as a kid, I enjoyed everything related to lawn care and landscaping!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I typically work with residential customers for all sorts of projects, as well as providing exterior maintenance contracts for smaller commercial building.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure you select a pro that thoroughly understands what you want in terms of desired outcomes, and not someone who will deliver what they think should be your desired outcome. Client satisfaction should be their highest priority!
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
The client should take the time to have a good idea of what they want in terms of results before engaging with a pro - visiting neighborhoods to check out various landscaping configurations, websites devoted to garden and yard care, etc. once we get a good idea of your desired result we can let you know if it's feasible and how we can get you there!
