We currently are a dedicated two man company headquartered in Waukesha, WI. Our inception was 2008 as a sole proprietor. After 7 years in residential remodeling then nearly 3 years in commercial project management for tile and floorcovering and 10 years in landscape management owners Andrew and Nate partnered to form Home Renewal LLC. We have been in consecutive operations as a partnership LLC since 2013
Nate and I are family men doing our best to live up to our Master Carpenters example. We realize how. Precious the hours and minutes we get every day with our families. We acknowledge that special time occurs mostly in your home. Our mission is to bring joy to homeowners where they reside in simple functionality that promotes family time!
We have low overhead and that savings passes through to the consumer. We work on low margins in an effort to stretch your dollar for the greatest value. We are lisenced contractors with the state of Wisconsin. We have business liability and workers compensation insurance and certificates are provided before any contract is signed. We provide a 1 year workmanship warranty and encourage customers to take advantage of our complimentary 1 year walk through. We are available for flexible meeting times to make sure your daily life can proceed throughout the duration of a project including resetting toilets as soon as possible during bathroom remodels or providing temporary counter tops during kitchen renovations.
Home Renewal provides permit advise for all projects as well as looking out for your homes value and not exceeding your future appraisals with project budgets.
Home Renewal provides complete material lists including a selection sheet letting the customer know everything they need to pick out before a project begins.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a ballpark figure, round number for initial budget purposes. This number is sometimes greater than final cost. We advise smart finish selections, there are massive variable costs with all finish selections. Sometimes it is lower than the final cost if home owners add specific items not in the initial figure. If the ballpark figure is a workable number with the home owner we schedule a walk through typically 45-120minutes. At this first meeting I will explain our process. And get as much detail to provide a more accurate number for a final proposal.
This will include allowances on finish selections as well as a firm labor and fixed material cost. Examples of fixed material include but are not limited to: Lumber fasteners paint drywall tile backer insulation etc. the needed materials to construct the project.
This proposal also includes mid-high cost of the finish selections. This way the home owner has the option to select economical finishes and if the final selections are lower than allowances the home owner will have a reduced final bill.
Once the final proposal is signed by both parties, the home owner receives a certificate of Home Renewals liability insurance policy and a down payment received by Home Renewal we get started drafting floor plans and applying for needed permits and arranging dumpster service if needed.
Then the plans are submitted first to the home owner for approval. Once permits are ready for pick up from the home owners municipality they will be posted visibly at the residence. At this point work can begin.
The faster a home owner picks out all the finishes the faster we can complete the project as well have a grasp on the final costs.
We operate on draws to the proposal for payment.
Depending on the size and duration of the project, draws correspond with completed items on the scope of work in the proposal. Example, down payment generally includes fixed material costs and a percentage of our labor number.

How did you get started in this business?
I had the opportunity to learn carpentry from my Grandfather. I have never stopped learning. I have been guided by many great co-workers and contractors both past and present. I am very great full for the advise and knowledge I have received and try to pass it on as much as possible.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Get multiple bids
Give feed back and the opportunity for your contractors to adjust their price.
Personality, communication, and attitude are all factors that go into a business relationship and they all have monitary value.
If there is ever a situation or part of a project you are not satisfied with tell your contractor. We need our customers satisfied. Most projects have small details that can be over looked or never discussed.
Even great contractors can miss something. Simply bring it up.
