    Frequently asked questions

Once a customer calls, emails, or texts into our office, one of our dispatchers will coordinate a service technician (repairs or maintenance) or a design consultant (new or replacement equipment) to come out for an on-site visit. When necessary, we can give a proposal (generally with 95% accuracy) for new equipment with some information aquired through our "green appointment" process without even stepping foot onto the property. Once our customer chooses their equipment, with some help from our design consultant, the installation is scheduled and can generally take place as soon as a week to as far out as eight weeks, depending on the time of year.

PTCS (Performance Tested Comfort Systems), AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Institute), NATE (North American Technician Excellence, EPA Universal Refrigerant Certifications, TCS (Trane Comfort Specialist).

We use a pricing program that is 1) consistent year around, 2) based on labor and equipment, not on "sizing up a customer", 3) is al a carte, so every customer gets a custom price to fit their needs exactly, and 4) provides confidence that referrals will be treated with equal respect and pricing.

My grandfather started his first HVAC company (oil furnaces and oil delivery) in 1955 in Federal Way (Miller Heating and Oil), right on Pacific Highway (about 15 years before I-5 was opened). While the company names have changed as have the business, HVAC has been in the family blood for 65 years and three generations.

Make sure you're comfortable with the contractor- even more importantly than the equipment they're selling. You might be able to get one quote, you might need 10. Find a contractor that you're comfortable with and that has good reviews. Less than 4 stars is something to be leary of, 5 stars means only family members have rated the company- no one is perfect.

How long will I live in my home?

Do I have any hot or cold spots in my home?

How is the insulation in my attic and in my floor (my home's ability to keep heat once it's distributed)?

Am I looking for value or price? Lowest price generally means something is missing (maybe to be charged later), corners migth be cut, different equipment may be used, or best practices aren't followed. Find a contractor that offers the best value, not just the lowest price.

Do I want cooling? Humidity control? Advanced air filtration for better indoor air quality?

Do I want monthly payments (that, in many cases, can be offset with utility savings or pay upfront?
