They contacted me via text/email. However, weve decided to go with another referral route.

Kevin Dale presented himself well and seemed to have the experience to do our job. The scope of work was fairly large as we were renovating a 1948 house, including vaulting the ceiling. We were on a time deadline and needed the project completed in a timely manner. The beginning went well with the demo. We had an architect involved for sizing the beam needed for the vault. The day that the beam was to go in, we found out that there was an old oil furnace directly where the support needed to be. We had to rush to find someone who could remove the furnace. After that, the framing seemed to go well. Thats where things fell apart. We were to have the house rewired and apparently the electrician that Kevin had hired took another job and because building was in high gear, he had trouble finding someone to do the job. Several weeks went by with no work done. The wiring was finally done, but at present, when you use a waffle iron in the kitchen, it blows a circuit. (We had even had the service upgraded to 200 amp, so there is plenty of available power.) We had to have the main water shutoff in the house moved and now the shutoff doesnt shut off the water. The date for completion was supposed to be July 31 and since notice needed to be given to a current landlord, I asked Kevin about a completion date and he said that to be on the safe side Aug. 15 would probably be better. Our arrangement was to install all of the trim and do the painting. Since we were flying out to do this, we needed prior notice of when this would be available to be done. The date that was given ended up being about a month earlier than it was ready. Because the ticket had been bought, Kevin agreed to install the trim in compensation. Sounds good, but he used his framing carpenters to do it. Not the same skill set. He also used them and new workers for the drywall taping and mudding. It took weeks and many call-backs to get most of it in at-least presentable condition. There were so many other annoying things involved. In mid September, when he was given a day and time to correct a list of things or forfeit a (small) amount of the last payment, He and his crew showed up at 4 PM that day and then was miffed that he was going to lose that money because he couldnt get everything done that day. We tried to work with Kevin, but he often would not respond to emails and just seemed to ignore criticism. There were weeks in the last month (a month and a half after the original completion date) when his crew would be there for 4 hours out of the entire week. This turned out to be a very stressful remodel and I would advise people to avoid Estate Renovations.

Our stated 3 week project took 4 months to complete, I had to initiate conversations regarding the missed schedule with contractor. Numerous delays were caused by materials brought to site not verified until the moment of use. Several items incorrectly ordered by contractor despite full set architectural drawings. Staff lied about installing insulation. Staff unaware of project scope at a detail level so they would punt ( bathroom floor doesnt align with adjacent floor finish now) or ask me. Assigned lead staff was not present as promised; actual daily lead staff was unaware of project scope. Poor communication with subcontractor; tile subcontractor asked me what his work scope was. No one seemed to be in charge of the project. The staff cracked the toilet tank; we discovered after the job done and had to replace. We also had to replace shower union as they installed one for a shower head not hose. We got a quality project in the end but only because I was vigilant and demanded a higher standard from them. I would not recommend Estate Renovations for any work.

Estate Renovations was the sub on our job and the general contractor and I have been trying to fix his job ever since. From the beginning, Kevin did not give a thorough bid. I tried to email notes on what was missed that we discussed but he did not update much description after multiple revisions, causing problems later. He also did not measure accurately and overshot the square footage significantly. I had to get involved and measure for him and press for a credit. It became suspicious because he was not providing receipts or extra materials or credits for deductions but insisting on his additions in change orders so the contractor and I had to take the loss; causing a feeling of dishonesty. He also did not listen (again)as twice I called with instructions to do tile one way, and to hold off on bark dust at the end so I could do it. Instead both times he went forward anyway, resulting in a change order to undo his work and me having to redo the bark dust. He blamed it on communication but after it happened a few times and once in person it came off as habitual and not caring. Finally, the workers were great and did they best so the tile workmanship was good in places but cuts around drains and lights of water features were horrible, and excess grout and stains were not cleaned up. The siding portion of the job was incomplete and not clean and now the contractor has to redo it. Even after the job he wasnt reachable to provide the grout color to help the next guy finish his job, as the general contractor informed me that he wasnt very forthcoming with information. Kevin was difficult to reach in general and missed a few appointments or scheduled working days. The driveway was left damaged as well. Overall a very bad experience, leaving the general contractor and the owner to clean up and pay for it so thanks Kevin for making more work for everyone else.

We had Estate Renovations build us a new kitchen. They help with the layout, the cabinet and coutertop selections. They stayed on budget, and only went a week past their end date. We are really happy with our new kitchen.
