Make sure to research each contractor with the Better Business Bureau, Angie's List, Next Door, Checkbook Magazine, etc. Look specifically at their rating and customer comments.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Call your local water authority to verify that you have a leak. Water could be coming up in your yard, but the leak actually belong to your neighbor. Verify with the contractor the extent of any disturbances they may cause to the interior and exterior of your propety. Most importantly, do you feel comfortable with the person who represents the company. Ask for current references.
