Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When you are ready to be serviced, you just give us a call, we will collected all the information we need, give you an estimate and or quote over the phone, if you’re interested we will either come to you or you can always come to our shop.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
All of our locksmiths are licensed with DPS and have to complete so many hours of continuing education yearly.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
We do not have standard pricing, every lock is different, every door is different, depending on the time of day, along with if it is a mobile service we are providing you vs. you coming into our shop.
How did you get started in this business?
Howard Safe and Lock has been servicing the Greater Houston area since 1946. It was opened by Howard Yetter in the year 1946 as a lock and bicycle shop. In the early 80s the business was passed onto Howard’s nephew, how had been working with Howard in the shop since he was a teenager. In 2017, the business was passed onto a friend of Roy Yetter’s, Liran Vidal, who is currently the owner. Sadly Roy Yetter passed away shortly after the purchase, but still remains a huge part of our shop today. You can find pictures of Howard and Roy Yetter on our shop walls.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with everyone, we do work for customers needing residential or automotive locksmith. We also do work with large commercial business and chain stores, restaurants, etc.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Make sure the locksmith you are hiring is a LICENSED and INSURED locksmith. We get so many calls from people who went with a cheaper locksmith they found online, and the locksmith either raised the price on site, ruined the customers locks, and/or couldn’t complete the job at all.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
There aren’t any specific questions customers need think about, other than what service you are wanting and when.
