Hello, my name is Lili, and I am an independent animal rescuer who has rescued hundreds of animals from kill shelters, off the streets, and from people giving away their animals for free. I dedicate my life to saving the innocent and defenseless lives of animals. I have been rescuing animals ever since I was a little girl, and as an adult transitioned into actual animal rescue going on 10+ years now. I have many rescuers, and friends, that trust me and have seen the before and after care of what I do to help animals, and am the first person they call when they find an animal on the streets. I have also worked at a vet clinic and have admini

Various R. says, "Mary C. 2 years ago Jan is truly an animal lover and an amazing pet setter. When I returned from my trip, my older cats were calm and very happy due to her extended visits. My home and the litter box were pristine. She fully keeps her commitments making my trip worry free. Thank you Jan!!! John K. 2 years ago Jan was great and extraordinarily patient with our special needs rescue dog. Eventually he came to see her as the kind person we did and accepted her. cp 3 years ago Jan has really been adopted by my 2 dogs who are so excited when she comes to stay.  One is a puppy, of sorts (3 yo), but the other is "elderly" at 14 years old.  When required, she is able to administer medications to my elderly pup. Leslie & Kent George 4 years ago Janice did a great job. My dogs love her!!!!! She kept us totally informed of all the goings on while we were on our cruise. Set my mind totally at ease. She even got my fussy eater to eat her food every day and that in and of itself is a miracle! Her attention to detail is a plus. Our house and everything in it was in good order when we returned. We will definitely be calling on Janice again! Dave Small 5 years ago Jan has taken care of our home and our two dogs during two lengthy Europe trips. Our dogs bonded with her. Our home was kept safe and clean. Jan is very conscientious, dependable, honest, and caring. She is Internet connected. It was easy to stay in touch with her by emai. We're much more comfortable going on vacation now that we've found her. This wasn't always the case. We hired another woman several years ago. When we returned, our house was dirty. No such problems with Jan. Justin Greak 5 years ago Jan did a wonderful job taking care of our 3 cats while we were away. The cats were happy, litter box changed twice a day, fed twice a day, and they were obviously well taken care of during our time away. Jan was a great house guest and kept the place neat and tidy during her home/petsitting stay. Darla Castaneda 5 years ago Jan did an amazing job house sitting and caring for my aging Dachshund, my shy Kitty, and my rambunctious Puppy for a week. My animals were well cared for, happy and healthy upon my return, didn't lose any weight and were less stressed due to her loving care and being in their home environment. She also watered my plants keeping them alive in my absence. I would definitely recommend her and plan on using her the next time i can get away. Darla Castaneda 05/25/16 " Read more

Your Dog Walking questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on HomeGuide.

How much do dog walkers charge?

Dog walkers charge $10 to $35 per walk or $30 to $60 per hour, depending on your location, number of dogs, and the number of walks you schedule. Some dog walkers charge 50% more if you have two dogs, but you may find one that offers discounted weekly or monthly rates for pre-scheduling ongoing walking services.

  • Holidays typically add $5 to $10 extra per walk
  • Many dog walkers also offer a $5 to $10 discount if they can walk your dog with other dogs.

Do you tip dog walkers?

While most dog walkers do not expect a tip, tipping 15% to 20% is a good rule of thumb to show your appreciation for their good service or if your dog needs special care or handling. Leaving a positive online review also shows appreciation while helping them build their business.

What does a dog walker do?

A dog walker walks your dog for a scheduled amount of time, typically on a pre-determined route, to ensure they get sufficient exercise and can go to the bathroom while you are away. Dog walkers dispose of any waste from the walk, make sure your dog is safe and hydrated, and may also feed them upon request.

Most dogs do well with one 20- to 30-minute walk per day. Puppies and more active dogs typically need two or three walks per day and may need longer walks.

How do I choose the best dog walker near me?

When searching for a dog walker, be sure to:

  • Choose an experienced, insured dog walker who has a business license.
  • Look for members of professional organizations, such as the National association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS), Professional United Pet Sitters (P.U.P.S.), or the Association of Pet Sitting Excellence (APSE).
  • Check their reviews on HomeGuide and Google.
  • Ask for and check their references.
  • Arrange a meetup before the first walk to make sure he or she is a good fit for both you and your dog.

What questions should I ask when hiring a dog walker?

Ask the following questions to ensure you find the best dog walker near you:

  • What experience do you have?
  • Do you belong to any professional organizations?
  • Can we schedule a meet and greet beforehand?
  • What is included in your standard rate?
  • What is the rate if I have more than one dog?
  • Do you charge extra for specific breeds?
  • Do you offer any discounts or package deals?
  • How and when do I pay for your service?
  • Do you offer behavior training?
  • Are you trained in pet CPR?
  • What is your protocol if there is an emergency, and my dog needs immediate medical help?
  • How do I get in touch with you?
  • Do you update me after each walk?

Paige is so great with my dogs. She has this vibe with them thats like “I think you’re so cute and cuddly but I am in charge and that is not up for debate” and they pick up on it. I really feel like she loves my dogs and that is so much more than what you could ever buy or expect. I’m grateful for her, as are my dogs and I can comfortably say that I recommend her for anyone in need of dog services

Esther is a delightful lady.. She brought her work trailer and took one dog at a time. Both the Long-haired Chihuahua and the Pomeranian turned out beautifully. Her fee was moderate. I plan to call her again, and I highly recommend her to everyone.

We have used Little Fairy’s Groomers twice now for all 5 of our pups. They range in age from 5-12 and weight from 9-65. All the pups love the groomers and come back in excellent condition looking wonderful. I didn’t realize that LF Groomers was a luxury salon but our pups deserve it and they treat our pups as if they were made out of gold. I know that they are well taken care of when they are there.
