AGD Custom Doors
About
We are a husband and wife team! My husband Cody has been in the business almost 20 years and I have been doing it for 8 years now. Cody's father had a 20 year old garage door business that we happily absorbed. Our customers are lifelong customers because we always offer honesty and great prices! We offer more solutions to garage door problems than most companies. A lot of companies only REPLACE doors and operators because it's easier than trying to find the actual problem and repairing it. It's quicker to train employees because they only have to teach them to install brand new products. Which also means that a lot of garage door guys out there don't really know much about what they are doing. We do! We will always find our customers the most cost effective way to solve their garage door problems because we have the experience and skills to solve any garage door issue.
I enjoy solving problems so I love that I'm doing that every day with my best friend! My husband, Cody, and I are best friends and partners. Yes, we still bicker sometimes, but for the amount of time we spend together we get along great! When we are working we hardly have to speak because we just know what to do to get the job done quickly and we do it. Our favorite job to do is build custom wood doors together. The satisfaction we both get once the door is in and looking beautiful is amazing! We love building things with the two hands (plus a bunch of power tools) that God gave us!

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When I first talk to a new customer, I first ask their name and introduce myself. Then, I gather information about what they are needing. If I have an approximate price for what they are needing I will tell them about how much it will cost. I then try to set up an appointment as soon as possible. If I do set up an appointment, then I go ahead and add their information to the schedule and then I send them a confirmation.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My husband and I both know how to take apart doors and operators and then put them back together without really thinking. Combined we have 28 years of garage door business experience. We also build custom wood doors from scratch so we know what makes a good door or operator. We both are woodworkers and I am a welder so we have a huge wood and metal shop that we spend most of our off time in.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Our standard service call is usually $89 which always includes lubricating everything and making any needed adjustments and a 30 day service warranty. However we also offer partial service call prices for very quick and easy situations. Any parts we use cost extra.
How did you get started in this business?
My husband got into the business because his father always took him on job sites when he was younger and eventually he started working for him. I started by helping my father in law in the office. I have experience with small businesses and went to art school, so I helped with logos and eventually was doing all the designing and office work for his business. Then I started going to jobs with Cody or his father and learned everything that way. Cody and I started our own business mainly because we wanted to build custom doors and we already had a lot of our own customers that always asked for us.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We work with a lot of house flippers, property management companies, commercial building owners, people that have a few rental properties, Realestate agents, apartment complexes, and obviously everyday homeowners.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Do not assume that if the price is higher it is better quality! A lot of these bigger door companies have to charge more because they have more overhead and employees. Which also means their employees don't have much experience and they just aren't going to care as much because they are only trying to sell as much as possible so their paycheck is bigger. My husband has worked for some of the bigger door companies and hated it because he knows how much parts actually cost and they charge ridiculous prices for the exact same parts that we get! We all get our parts from the same places! If you go with a smaller company like us you are getting the experts and owners every time! Therefore, everything will be done at 110% because it's our company and we value every single customer we have because they are what keeps us going. We always say that we want our customers for a lifetime of jobs, not just one overpriced job where the person feels ripped off.
