About
First and foremost, I do NOT require ANY service contracts. Most companies require you to sign, at minimum, a 1 year contract locking you into monthly treatments that are rarely needed here in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). All of our PNW pests can be eliminated with one or two treatments, especially while actually utilizing Integrated Pest Management (IPM).
IPM, which most companies preach, but never use, reduces the overall need and cost for pest control by identifying conducive conditions and eliminating them. For example, IPM methods identify and reduce the source of pest problems. We spend time with you to explain how the preventive approach (IPM) is more cost effective than a program of spraying. Common sense tells me that repeated spraying does not address the cause of the problem. Simply put, the Band-Aid approach doesn’t work and costs you more money in the long run.
Treatments that are carefully timed and targeted based on monitoring of the pest population level, are more effective and last longer than those based on a prescheduled ongoing maintenance (i.e. monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly planned pesticide treatments). This doesn’t mean we won’t consult with you on a regular basis, it just means we will use real science and solve your pest problem(s). In addition, proper species identification (e.g. not all ants or rats are created equal) is essential in how treatments are completed. This savings can then be applied to less expensive landscape maintenance (e.g. ongoing organic matter removal to reduce ant activity), more frequent garbage removal to prevent rat activity, and structural modification (e.g. foundation vent repair to prevent crawl space rodent activity). For other bugs or insects, plant diversification can go a long way. For example, planting some marigolds alongside those tomatoes, not only will be more aesthetically appealing, but you will also get protection against unwanted pests.
