About this pro

Rick Dotson of Oregon Builders & Restoration has been serving the Portland metro area for over 34 years. Our knowledge, experience, and professional staff has enabled us to provide a service and product that is comarable to, and often surpasses the large, high end remodeling companies at a much more affordable price.

I very much enjoy helping people achieve the new bathroom, kitchen, or addition they have dreamed about. Out goal is truly to make their project a dream and not a nightmare. Oregon Builders also provides water & fire damage restoration services. Our custom remodeling approach always produces a finished product that you can rarely get with the patch & paint contractors that are many times referred by the insurance company.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Oregon Builders provides free estimates and initial design consultation. This process is needed to establish budgets and that's the first step to any successful project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Rick is IICRC certified, licensed in lead safe practices by the state of oregon, bonded and insured. Our liability insurance far exceeds the minimum required limits for your protection.

How did you get started in this business?

Rick started as a young man working for his father who was a custom home builder. In those days, the builders actually built the house. We performed all the carpentry work, both rough and finish, windows, siding, doors, cabinetry, painting, and wood finishing.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Rick has completed well over 900 projects that include, residential remodeling (Kitchen, bathrooms, & additions) as well as hundreds of fire and water damage projects both residential and commercial. I am always glad to provide a list of notible projects and references.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?

Finding the right remodeling contractor is critical. I can't stress this enough. And when I say the right contractor, I mean someone you can trust, someone that understands your wants and needs. Someone that you can enjoy working with as you will be tied together for a few weeks to a few months. While price is always a strong consideration, It really should be about 4th on the list when it comes to contractor selection.

What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?

If possible, it is helpful to think about a budget, general style and feel of the space you are renovating. There are so many resourses today to help with the design process. We of course, are one of them.
