Zimmerman Workshop Architecture + Design
About
Zimmerman Workshop was established in 2010 with little more than a single project and a desire to build a firm that melds rigorous, beautiful, and smart design with top-notch service. Over 40 projects later, our commissions range from furniture design and residential projects (both single and multi-family), to creative offices, and cultural and religious buildings. Our work has been recognized with prestigious awards and covered by major design publications.
No matter the project type or size, we value excellence in design, feasibility, economy, and ecological and civic sensitivity. We strive to create value for our clients, not only in terms of return on investment, but also in the way design makes for a happier home, a more effective workplace, or a memorable place to gather.

We love the process of finding solutions that will make the best of whatever's presented to us--be it a run-down townhouse ready for a new life, a tiny apartment with a big list of needs, or an empty piece of land with an amazing view that must be maximized. Getting to know our clients, and coming back to them with a design that's unique and specially suited to them, is also a pleasure.

Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We typically start with a phone call to learn more about the project and share a bit more about the way we work with clients. From there, we schedule a meeting and visit to the project site. What follows depends on the project. Sometimes it's as simple as putting together a proposal; other times we also include a rough estimate of overall project costs, feasbility and zoning studies, or other due dilligence research. Once hired, we proceed through several phases, including schematic design, construction documents, construction oversight, and close-out. Quite often, clients that hire us for our architectural services also hire us to handle interior design.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Adam Zimmmerman is a licensed architect. He attended the University of Texas in Austin, and has worked at several prestigious firms, including Renzo Piano's office in Paris, and KPF in New York.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
Pricing depends on the project. We have an hourly structure, as well as a fixed fee structure.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We've worked with young families, retired professionals, church communities, entrepreneurs, and overall, people that value design.
