Always be transparent. Try to establish a price within reason so that people feel there getting a fair and honest deal.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a second generation plumber. My family started plumbing in 1961. My father taught me thre trade. I have been in the industry working since I sam 16 years old working weekends and holidays while in school. The after high school I started full time.

There is a set price for certain types of jobs.
Sewer cleaning starts at 95$ for sink tub or toilet.
Fixture installation start at 250.00 example faucet indstallation.
Most work needs to be seen to issue a price. Every home has it's own variable. So it would be better to review a job and then give a quote.

Every type of person from the home owner, landlord to general contractor.

There is no one project that I prefer over another.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
This industry has a lot of dishonest people. People that sell themselves as better then they are and have very little knowledge of the work needed. Before hiring anyone check references and history if possible. Also don't hire based on price. Cheap will allways be more expensive.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Does the pro offer free quotes.
Does the pro have a legitamate office.
Does the pro have a license or affiliated with a license.
Does the pro have a website.
Is the pro affiliated with the Dept of buildings. The customer can always look up the pro and see if there is a problem. If there is no comments then things are always true with the pro.
