    Frequently asked questions

Its more about availability than anything else. If we are available on the date and time they need us, everything else can be worked out.

Next we simply need current location, an inventory of what we are moving, destination address, and tell us of any special concerns you may have. If we are only moving standard items, usually a cost estimate can be generated right away. If there are specialty items, a walkthrough may be necessary, or photos of the items of concern.

Any packing, furniture wrapping or disassemblies are done prior to the move to avoid confusion and increase efficiency on move day.

Although cash is preferred, we accept every major credit card, a personal certified check or company check. For smaller moves such as a one room move, a studio with little furniture, or just a few things, Zelle, Paypal or Venmo is also an acceptable form of payment. No matter the form of payment, a "paid" invoice is mailed once payment has been secured.

As a carpenter I packed all of the important orders before they were delivered. I was professionally trained and was exceptionally good at it. Driving large trucks came with my time in the union during my construction years. Having more energy than most, I moonlighted as a mover for years before joining the team at On The Move USA. Having successfully completed around 3,000 moves, I do not believe there is anything that I have not dealt with on some level.

Our system is pretty simple. We have a set travel fee for local Moving Labor only ($35) and further distances are charged per mile to cover fuel/mileage expenses. This is a standard one time fee.

Moving labor is hourly and perpetual for every man. Our current fee is $60hr per man, and we have a 2 hour minimum.  After our minimum, we charge per every additional half hour of labor.

NY taxes are always included in pricing (8.875%). A $2 Credit Processing Fee is added to credit orders, and these fees are waived for cash payments. Once payment has been secured, a "paid" invoice is forwarded via email.

Having too much energy for my own good, I always took on extra work. The main opportunity that came my way (at the time) was moving. I offered my services as a private contractor for 2 different moving companies. Having the ability to do it all, I was always moving after work. However, I started to become aware of some of the dirty tactics these companies were using to add hidden fees to their cost, I also realized I would be paired with guys that really did not care about anything other than getting the job over with and getting paid. Clients routinely praised my work ethic and would encourage me to start my own moving company.  I partnered with someone who financed the operation and the rest was history.

All types I guess. The very rich, celebrities, corporations, franchise stores, college students etc. As long as I am confident we can successfully complete the project, I accept it.

Make sure he is upfront with all his cost and fees. Do not expect him to be on the up and up with this, ask for it in writing, whether its a flat rate or hourly, know what you are getting yourself into.

Also, honesty is key. Do not mislead or worst, lie to you mover. Let him know all you have, warn him if there are damaged items, pack your breakables with due care so they travel well. Make sure you provide him with the most information as possible so there are no surprises.

Do I need to move everything on my inventory list? You will be charged by weight or linear footage. Being that the case, its best to take what you really can not do without. Moving is the best time to donate unwanted items or purge. The less you move, the lower the cost of moving it. If you have extremely delicate items, and you'll be a bundle of nerves until they arrive in one peice, try to move them yourself. Look at what needs to be prepared for a move and determine what level of protection will be needed for it to travel safe. Once you have a materials list, think about the time and effort needed to pack it all. If you can handle it, it will drive down the cost, if not, get an estimate and see if its a better deal to just have them do it.
