Jordan G. says, "ARRK handyman Service was hired by my company to put a 150ft wood fence in the backyard of our rental property with two gates in order to create privacy from the railroad tracks directly behind the property. Russell and his crew showed up ready to work in the middle of a snow storm when they live an hour and a half away. They had to cut down gigantic tree in order to install the fence on very uneven ground. The final product turned out beautifully! He did a wonderful job in regards to the work. However, I had to subtract one star for poor communication and follow thru. I had asked Russell to complete the project within a 3 day time span and to also stay in contact with me every morning with updates. The project ended up taking a full 2 weeks to complete and I was only contact one time with an update. He also put the front gate in an awkward spot, not where I had planned for it to go. In the end, The quality of work was so stunning that some of these other issues fell to the wayside. We would most definitely work with Russell and Arrk Handyman Services again!" Read more

Your Pool Table Moving questions, answered

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on HomeGuide.

How much does it cost to move a pool table?

The average cost to move a pool table is $300 to $800, depending on the table's size and weight and the distance it's being moved. This price includes disassembling the table, transporting it, reassembling it at the destination, and leveling it.

Pool table moving costs are typically on the low end of the range for small 6- or 7-foot tables and at the higher end of the range for large tournament-size tables or those with a slate bed below the felt surface. The cost to move a 12-foot slate tournament table can exceed $1,500.

Other factors that influence the moving cost include whether the move involves stairs, the table has standard pockets or a ball return system, or the slate bed is one piece or a three-piece model.

Should I hire a professional to move my pool table or move it myself?

Pool tables are heavy and delicate, making them difficult to lift and maneuver without damaging them. Moving a pool table is a complex process that requires specialized equipment and skills, along with several movers to lift the heavy table. Professional pool table movers have the necessary tools and experience to ensure your move is stress-free and the table isn't damaged.

Transporting a pool table also requires a large enough vehicle, along with restraints to ensure the table doesn't shift during the move. Professional movers have the appropriate vehicle for the job.

Can any moving company transport a pool table?

Not all moving companies have the equipment or skills to move a pool table. Hiring a company that specializes in moving pool tables and other large, heavy objects is crucial to ensure your table isn't damaged in the process.

Do I need to disassemble the pool table before moving it?

Disassembling the pool table is required before moving it. Disassembly involves removing the following parts:

  • Rails
  • Pockets
  • Felt
  • Legs
  • Slate bed (for tables that have one)

Professional pool table moving prices typically include disassembling the table, loading and transporting it to the destination, and reassembling and leveling it in the new location. It's best to let the movers handle the disassembly since they will label and pack each piece to make the reassembly process easier for them.

How long does it take to move a pool table?

Moving a pool table locally takes 4 to 6 hours on average, including disassembling and reassembling the table. The total time it takes to move a pool table depends on:

  • Pool table size and weight
  • Move distance
  • Movers' expertise
  • Complexity of the move

Moves that involve stairs or tight spaces that make the pool table more difficult to maneuver typically take the longest.

How heavy is a pool table?

The weight of a pool table depends on the table size and material. Wood pool tables range from 180 to 600 pounds, while slate pool tables range from 500 to 2,500 pounds.

Wood pool table weights by size:

  • 6-foot – 180 lbs.
  • 7-foot – 275 lbs.
  • 8-foot – 320 lbs.
  • 9-foot – 450 lbs.
  • 10-foot – 600 lbs.

Slate pool table weights by size:

  • 6-foot – 500 lbs.
  • 7-foot – 700 lbs.
  • 8-foot – 1,000 lbs.
  • 9-foot – 1,300 lbs.
  • 10-foot – 1,500 lbs.
  • 12-foot – 2,500 lbs.
