Frequently asked questions
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start with a phone call. I will review your project and possibly ask for photos and rough measurements so that I can get you a rough budget number.
If the budget works we will schedule an appointment. I'll ask all sorts of strange questions about how you use the space.
I then create a proposal, often including a drawing or computer rendering of what the project may look like, with a price. Most of the work is lump-sum, meaning you pay one price, it does not move or change.
You sign on, and we get started! You'll be notified of your approximate start date.
As we get closer to your start date we will take care of any permits, ordering materials, meeting with you about staging and construction areas, etc.
Start day! We start your project. Most of our projects are 1-23 months in duration.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Decades of experience in construction and project management.
Do you have a standard pricing system for your services? If so, please share the details here.
How did you get started in this business?
I've been into building since I was a child. Zip-lines, tree-houses, furniture, and more!
What types of customers have you worked with?
Homeowners (single family and associations), commercial tenants, and building owners of commercial, retail, industrial, hospitality, and appartments..
Describe a recent event you are fond of.
You can read all about our recent projects we are fond of over on our blog: https://timberstonenh.com
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a pro in your area of expertise?
Expect the project start date to be 2-3 months out. Anyone who doesn't have a backlog is probably not worth working with. Cheap, fast, quality. You can't get all three.
What questions should customers think through before talking to pros about their needs?
Vision. Having some design ideas, such as magazine clippings or pinterest boards, that show us what you like and don't like.
Budget. Having some idea of your budget and being open and honest with our contractor, even during the bidding process, so we can design something you'll love, and actually be able to afford to build.
